Thanks for the thoughts and support SnakeCreations. Yes, Slade has been active and healthy in those conditions since I've gotten him, and he moved into the larger tank with a better temp gradients 6 months ago.

I'm afraid I've got bad news. I got home and prepared the other tank for him to be in. I didn't want to have him in the other tank for fear that some of the residual scents would be in the air. He was curled up at a slightly odd angle (slightly shifted on his side instead of balanced properly), and is unresponsive. I still moved him into the other tank, which is now in the bedroom far away from any scents or anything. I haven't gotten any response, though he isn't completely limp and his mouth is remaining closed rather than open.

I'm hoping that if he is able to relax in a separate room with good temps (I'm using the temp gun to verify), that he'll recover, though I know that isn't likely.

That "unresponsive" thing certainly doesn't sound good.

I'm afraid Slade did not make it through this ordeal. If nothing else, I hope that others happen upon this, and know to be more careful than I was.

He has not moved at all in a few hours, even after being moved to the separate tank in the bedroom. I gently prodded him and got no response, nor was there one when I picked him up. He is limp now, and didn't try to right himself when flipped. I'm not sure if I should leave the light on for him and hope that come morning he is miraculously better, or if I should go ahead and prepare to freeze him for cremation.

Thank you guys so much for the kind and supportive words. You've made me feel like less of a bad snake father, and it means a lot to me.

Yeah, crap happens. But it is all a learning experience. You will do much better for the care of your next snake.

Sorry....
