Nanci's SnickerSnakes Welcome to SnickerSnakes- where the pretty snakes are! I love striped cornsnakes in red, white, purple, peach and pink. Foundation stock, breeding plans, and hopefully hatchling news!

Brumation 2010-2011

I put a few snakes into brumation today. Since the best I can do, in my warm climate, without air conditioning, is a closet with no heat exchange, on the floor, with the door closed, this is going to be a short, but hopefully beneficial, brumation period. I am going to see how they do, and most likely bring them out on February 1st. Breeding began last year for me in March, so they should have plenty of time to warm up and munch some mice before they get busy!

A few snakes that are likely to breed this season are staying up to grow a little more, including Aji and Ancho, Zora, and possibly The Dingo and Azaria. Cherry is staying up because she told me she doesn't want to miss any meals :-)

Good night Pepper, El Wray, Fred, Lily and Penelope! See you in a few weeks!!

60-65F. I wish it was about ten degrees colder. This is why they are going for such a short time. I'm hoping the total darkness has an effect, anyway!

Could you set up a fan in there to move the air around a little? That might lower the temperature a little as well..

Good luck!

Everywhere besides there is warmer! It was in the 70's outside yesterday!! The heat in my house hasn't kicked on for three days. (I love Florida!!) All a fan would do is move warmer air from the ceiling down.

Nanci, are there holes in those boxes? I am in the habit of looking at boxes for holes now at work LMAO!
