So... let me know if I can post the details about my snake here or not.

Unless you're willing to pony-up the $25 to be a contributing member, then the answer is: no, you cannot. Contributing members PAY to find good homes for their snakes; it wouldn't be fair to allow you to compete with them for nothing. Expected profit doesn't really matter. In fact, this post itself crosses the line, but I'll be a nice guy and I won't delete it. But I'm locking this thread.

I've been seeing an increase in some violations, specifically non-Contributing members posting For Sale ads. Disguising your ad in a thread bemoaning the fact that you can't keep your snake for some reason and hoping someone will take pity and give it a good home (for a small fee) is not fooling anyone and will be treated exactly like the ones who blatantly post their ads. You get an immediate 3-day banning from this site.

Also, I'm having to make those PMs about signature lengths again. There is a 4-line limit that includes spaces. We allow some slack because of the difference in computer monitors and how some posts are viewed, but obvious excesses need to be fixed.

I'm hoping just bumping this thread and similar ones will be enough for awhile.

Addendum - 12/24/2013 - I have lifted the restriction concerning only Contributing members advertising their animals for sale on this site. Please see this thread -> http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=134466

Could I make a request (if not an auction) that animals for sale have a posted price?

But people who want to sell for less than "market price" (if there even is such a thing any more) will often not list a price, so they don't make the competition mad...

Hmm, I suppose. It's just odd to check an ad for snakes for sale and find no price. Feels more like "make an offer," when presented that way.

It would be just one more thing we would have to make as a rule that we would then have to enforce.

I would suggest that you treat such ads as I do when looking at something as a possible purchase. That is, if the seller neglects to mention a price in their ad, then I presume that they aren't really interested in getting my interest. After all, the PRICE is one of the most important pieces of info that you can provide to a potential customer. Leave that out, and you've already lost any chance of getting my business. You want my business? Tell me what I need to know right off the bat. Otherwise stop wasting my time.

Usually when they don't list a price, I ask and get some dialogue going. I want to make sure. Certain. That it's going to an appropriate home. Or out on trade for some babies back. Sometimes I don't list a price. I may want some unrelated compatible stock back. It goes both ways. And others I have not considered.

Unless they're the only person with the morph I want (or if I already know them), if the ad doesn't have a price, I skip it and go to the next one.
