rattle corn?

I pulled my corn out today at lunch and while i was holding him he was sitting fairly still but his tail would vibrate like a rattle snakes for a second then he would stop. He did this like 3 times in a row any one seen that before.

Also his belly patter seems to be getting dull, should i be expecting a shed. His eyes and top seem normal color.

It's a warning - he was spooked by something around him or by something you were doing. This sort of behaviour usually wears off as they grow and get more confident with you.

Waking him up during the day might not be a great idea if it stresses him. Corns are naturally less active during the day, preferring to come out at dawn, dusk and overnight. It's kind of like a giant yanking you out of bed at 3am. You'd rattle your tail as well!

The dulling also means that he's probably heading for a shed. They can't see as well during this time and are much more nervous of being approached and picked up. Be very gentle with him while he's going through this phase.

Most of my hatchlings do this! If you have them in a plastic bin while they're doing it, you get sound effects to go with the action. It means the same thing as when a rattle snake does it: back off! But the corn has very little to back the threat up with. :)
