My baby has turned into the wicked witch of the west.

I am interested to find out if this is normal or if this is just her having some off days.

My snow female laid her first clutch this year and second clutched on her own. The last clutch was laid about 6 weeks ago. I am the one that gets to do the bad jobs like feeding, cleaning out tanks, taking eggs away. You get the point. Everyone else to just gets to play.

This snake has always been my baby. Never a mean bone in her body till a couple weeks ago. I was putting her decorations back in her tank after cleaning the tank and she was in my way so I picked her up and she hissed (which she has never done). I looked at her a laughed and said oh some one is having a bad day. Then it was time for everyone to eat and when I opened her tank she was up and striking at me. Didn't think anything of it, was thinking that maybe she smelled the mice or the other snakes. When I took her out of her feeding tub she was still striking. Just figured that she was still a little worked up. Gave her a few days to digest then tried again and she did the same thing and I had washed my hands right before. I have had my husband and brother in law pick her up (cause they are the only ones that I trust to deal with a mean snake) and she was fine with them but she is always nasty to me. Someday's are worse than others. Sometimes she just gives me a hard side thumps and others she is all out stiking.

Of course, I don't let her get away with it. I still pick her up sometimes she is still trying to bite and others you can tell she is mad but is fine. Has anyone else had their snake do a 180 degree turn like that? My husband says that it is because I kept taking her eggs away. lol But I am not sure that having babies didn't make her crazy in the head.

Weird. The other day a butter stripe 09 that I have, who is usually sweet as pie, had a freak out. It was the weirdest thing...she usually doesn't react at all when you get her bin, take her out, etc, but that night as soon as I got near it she started literally flinging herself around, getting in strike position, huffing, etc. I left her for about 15 minutes, but had to clean her tub so went back. She was just fine again! Weirdest thing. Only thing I can think of is it was dark and maybe for some reason the light startled her? Hm.

Sorry I don't have any advice for you, other than just keep handling her and hopefully she'll settle back down.
