Baby Feeding Assembly Line!

Nanci

Alien Lover
I had 18 babes to feed tonight. Starting from thawed pinks and the delis set out, it took me 55 minutes to weigh and feed everyone, wash water bowls with hot water and soap, put everyone back, clean up all delis and disinfect the feeding area. Not bad, but I thought I could go faster!!

Good thing I enjoy feeding hatchlings! They go from their shoe box to the scale to the deli to the stove, then I heat, slit and place the next pink in the next deli, go back, wash the first water bowl, get out the second snake, etc. I put babies back as they finish. I'm so lucky to have 18 immediate feeders!!

When I read the title I pictured 18 baby snakes all lined up perfectly with their mouths wide open waiting for supper, hahahaha

That would be great, wouldn't it?! Like baby birds! And after all, birds are just reptiles with feathers...

You know Nanci I totally admire your wrangling...

I only have seven hatchlings, and I feel like such a n00b every time I try to feed... Especially Artemis... He's MEAN... and they're so quick, I'm soooo scared they'll get away from me and I'll LOSE one, Artemis almost managed to squirm right out of my hands.

Psstt, Nanci.. We have the exact same stove :D
Haha, I think I would go crazy having to feed all thoes snakes. But I would proabably enjoy it. Good job :)

'Scuse me, hang on, is one of your snakes named "kitten"? Or is it just that I don't speak Spanish? Because I'm really kind of hoping it's the former...

I will be glad when we get to feed our new baby. It hasn't had it's first shed yet. It has been here a week. Loves to be held though....as long as you let it crawl into your hands instead of picking it up. At what age can I pop it safetly? Isn't there something about on the light color ones..like our wittle snow..you can see through it and see a line that goes down through the tail which indicates male?

for water bowls i just use little "dressing cups" i toss em and get new ones. so much faster than cleaning 18 different bowls.
:)

I have a baby named Gatito. So yes, "kitten." And a baby named Minina went home with Carol after Daytona!

I put them on the stove because it's a nice flat area near the sink and counter where I thaw mice. I don't turn it on, and can't even turn on the halogen lights when the babies are on the stove because they get too hot. The lights make the stove top hot to the touch.
