scale discoloration?

So, I've recently noticed my caramel hatchling's tail tip, along the underside, appears to have 2 dark stripes (grey/brownish in color), kind of along the sides. I don't know for sure if they were there before (no clear pictures), but I'm inclined to think not. Do scales change color? He's due to shed (should have shed 2 or 3 weeks ago actually, but hasn't gone cloudy or shown any signs of shedding soon). I'll try to get pictures tomorrow if he has finished digesting.

Hatchling colours change a lot as they grow, so it could just be a natural progression.

If you're worried about scale rot, when one of mine had it, it appeared as a discoluration along the leading edge of the belly scales which then became ragged. Yours doesn't sound like that to me.
