Too Cold?

Hey guys. I got my new corn snake today, but I'm a little bit worried! I have him inside the vivarium, but the temperature is staying at about 23C or 74F on the warm side. What should I do? I've had the heat mat and light on for about an hour. I also picked him up and he seemed a bit cold. Please, its my first snake and I'm worried. Thanks.

Are you getting that temp from a stick-on thermomiter or one with a probe? If it is the stick on kind it will not give you accurate temps.

Now its at 26C/78F now. Maybe it takes a while to warm up. Yeah its the stick on one. Its only a temporary one until I get the proper one.

What is the temperature of the room the snake is in? If it's a comfortable temp for you, then an uth and a light will probably be to much heat for the snake.

The temperature of the room is about 21C/70F. Also, the glass on the vivarium is getting wet. It seems very humid. How do you reduce that?

Well now I put in a digital thermometer, and it reads around 32C/90F but the other strip themometer says 25. Ah well......
