The Munson Plan (Sample Feeding Chart): Revised 06/08/08

-When they're on single pinks (2-3g), I feed every 5-6 days. (Snake = 4-15g)
-Double pinks (3g x 2) every 5-6 days. (Snake = 16-23g)
-Small fuzzies (5-7g) every 6-7 days. (Snake = 24-30g)
-Regular fuzzies (7-9g) every 6-7 days (Snake = 30-50g)
-Hoppers (9-12g) every 6-7 days (Snake = 51-90g)
-Weaned (14-20g) every 7 days (Snake = 91-170g)
-Adult (20-30g) every 7-x days (Snake = 170+) See below.

Note: Adult females are fed more frequently than adult males (especially following brumation). Adult females are fed every 7-12 days; adult males are fed every 11-14 days.

This is by no means scientific, and not all corns will cooperate 100% with the schedule. The weight ranges I gave for the prey and snakes are approximate.

About time this was stickied!! I used to have it in my Palm Pilot, still do, actually, but then I made a really pretty chart of it, and hung that in the kitchen. Now I want to take that a step further and make little stick-on pics of my snakes and stick each one to the appropriate weight, so I can just glance at the chart without having to find the snake's weight on the calendar. I'll work on the snake IDs and get a picture of it.

Thank you!

I think I feed on a similar schedule but I am curious. Since I switched to the Mouse Factory for my rodents I find that the fuzzies are huge - pretty much hopper sized and it takes quite a while to get my snakes to eat them. Where are you getting smaller fuzzies? I asked for smaller ones when I ordered last time and still got these mammoth fuzzies!

Well done Dean. Thanks for finally putting that in a easily accessible area. Mind if I use it for my care sheets for people who want to get animals big and healthy? (Of course I'll give credit to you )

I'll trade my skinny, malnourished mice for big fat mice, any day! I just bought "small adults" from the snake store, and what I got was 9-10 gram mice. What a joke. I love those big 10 gram peach fuzzies that actually look appetizing, not the skinny bags of bones with long white fur and beady little eyes that I've been getting. Yuck.

Nanci: You're welcome.

Joanna: I use TMF too, and you're right, they're mouse sizes are larger than many other vendors, particularly fuzzies. The largest of their "large pinkies" are approximately the same weight as what some people call "peach fuzzies". The largest hoppers at my local pet store are smaller (and MUCH lighter in weight) than the small TMF fuzzies. I adjust prey number offered and feeding frequency when I'm at funny transitions.

Jeff: You're welcome. Sure, use it however you like.

I used to switch over to fuzzies at about 20 g but with TMF I find they only switch to fuzzies at closer to 50g! I am almost tempted to get an order elsewhere since it takes much longer to get them to 50g with 2 large pinks. Overall, I find their growth has been best with TMF. They did not seem to grow as fast with rodents from Big Cheese. I also had very good luck with Cajun Mice but their prices have increased and TMF is expensive enough!

I have a white board in my kitchen that is going to have some added info on the feeding schedule tonight! Thanks Dean!

As a side... I use RodentPro and they have 3 sizes of pinkies, but the large are borderline peach fuzzies. They do sell peach fuzzies too, and some of their Fuzzies are HUGE!

Dean, That is fantastic that its finally a sticky. To many newbies do not know this formula or the weight ratio to size of food.
I usually try to pass this on to newbies like a bad case of Herpes and I hope it spreads like wild fire now.
