Using Play Doh for hides

Just curious. I know its nontoxic and stuff. Anyone ever think about or try using Play-Doh for making hides? I kind of want to try it but want to see if anyone could suggest a "go for it!' or "no no, it's bad!" lol. I apologize for my newbie-ness...

Thanks!

The problem with using Play Doh is the fact that it is water soluble. Which would make is hard to clean and it would be porous therefore absorbing feces. If you could somehow eliminate this problem by coating the dried Doh with some type of water proof varnish it might work. The better choice would be to use Fimo or Sculptey Clay. Once it's baked it is no longer malleable and becomes waterproof. It's more expensive though.
