So I have received an infraction for being "abusive to another member" for saying another member was immature...which is a 1 point violation.

I thought it would be neat to see how many more serious violations take place every day on here and don't get infractions...my word was I surprised!!

I searched for a certain..."D" word and got FOUR pages of results. Now keep in mind, that the use of Profanity is a TWO point violation!!

Then I searched for the "P" word and found EIGHT pages of results. Geeze, that's a whole bunch of TWO POINT VIOLATIONS...

Low and behold, a violator of that rule, the very person I was supposedly "abusive" towards!

I just thought it was great how I called him immature and got a violation, yet many, many, MANY rules are violated everyday and go unnoticed.

Ps...I'm sure this is antagonizing a Moderator...there's another 4 pts. for Josh...but I wonder if David will get his 2 for Profanity...???
 
Oh god, I know that you're kinda angry about this but bringing up anything about David is a fantastic way to make a 17 page long drama thread...
 
Who's being immature now? Calling attention to others' violations doesn't really help your case. Isn't this something you should discuss with a moderator?

And if you get ticketed for speeding, you can park and see how many other people the cop didn't ticket.

The mods here to a great job. They volunteer their time. If they point out to you that you've done something worthy of an infraction, they are trying to keep the order here so we can have this wonderful board.

I've been on largely unmoderated boards and many of them are not a pretty sight.

If you want to be part of a community that has been around for years, then just don't do the infraction worthy stuff.
I've gotten infractions and just reworked the way I do stuff a little. Why don't you join me, and make this board a better place to live one post at a time?
 
If you don't like the words in his post then why don't you just report it... that's what the button is for...:shrugs:

Let me tell you something you may not be aware of. We have discussed the profanity topic at length. What is profanity to one may not be to another. Rich himself said he uses the word damn often. I don’t think piss is a swear word do you? So before you start counting infractions, learn the meaning of the world.

The mods here are all good people doing their best. They don’t read every post and are not expected to. If you think something is wrong report it. That will insure that the mods will look at it and determine if it is in fact an infraction or just somebody being pissy. As hard as it may be to believe there are small minded people in this world that get their feeling hurt and then go on a campaign to cause problems for others. Stupid isn’t it.

In that case...I think David should go himself. I am tired of that little bastard.

I don't think that is profane. Maybe you do. So you are saying that's okay, since not everyone would see it as profane...?

So you are saying since "some people" don't find piss and damn profane that since "some people" don't think and bastard are profane that I am in the clear right?

Josh, calm down. (I'm the one that did it- BTW- in case you all want to know who gave him an infraction.) But I thought I might explain a little bit about how this moderator job works. We don't all read every word of every thread. We don't all interpret offenses the same way. Many times questionable material doesn't come to the mods' attention until it is reported, which was the case here. I didn't go out looking for trouble; someone reported your post. Once that happens, the moderators need to go read the entire suspect thread and determine if any action needs to be taken. We don't have to advise the forum of our actions, and if one person gets an infraction, one shouldn't necessarily assume that others have gotten off free. Sometimes, none of us feel like whatever got reported actually constitutes a breaking of the rules. Sometimes Rich comes along and does his own thing. Rich is the supreme ruler- it's his site. Which means we, the mods, have to get a feel for what Rich really wants us to keep an eye on, which seems to me to be personal attacks, causing disruption in general. Not disagreement if civil. Handing out an infraction for every "piss" and "hell" and "damn" isn't going to happen. Use the F-word, or the C-word- why yes, you'll get edited and get an infraction. Another thing that is strongly discouraged is "mining for infractions." If something slips past, days, weeks, even months ago, please don't go on a vengeful search of everything in order to make others share your misery.

Josh- I'm sorry you feel that getting an infraction was unfair. I'm doing the best I can in the job I was elected to. Please don't feel like I'm out to get you, or think I'll be angry that you made this thread. Please, everyone, just remember that while discussion and disagreement are not prohibited, you simply cannot make abusive remarks about another member.
 
I'm sorry, it was not an attack you personally Nanci, I just sure do not feel that calling someone immature is worthy of an infraction. He's a big boy. I was disagreeing with him keeping a w/c that had lived SO long in the wild, and he didn't like it. He then told me I needed to go "scold my own kids". So absolutely, I am going to call him immature.

Again, this was not in any way an attack on you or the other mods, and I'm sorry people took it this way, it's just that it seems all the sudden David has become this golden child that everyone just overlooks and I am tired of it. He starts just as much as everyone else does, but it seems to me, he just plays the part of the victim and gets away with it.

I am inclined to agree with this. Whether or not it was reported, calling someone immature is really not worthy of an infraction in my opinion.

My question would be to the person who reported it... is it really worth reporting? Don't you have better things to do than to report something like that? I've only ever reported ONE post and it was an obvious spammer that got on the board and started posting about penis enhancers or something stupid like that.

That being said, this particular thread is a bit over the top and probably would be worth an infraction.

Since you're assuming we'll all be using what you think should be point worthy or not as the measuring rod, would you please be so kind as to post a simple sticky or something so that we know what will and will not be infractable in the future.

Unless I'm wrong and you weren't suggesting that your way is the only way, that what you think is what should be thought by one and all; if that's not what you were suggesting then please disregard this post.

That seems to be a very antagonistic response, she was not forcing her opinion on anyone, just stating it.
 
Umm, wilomn, I think she was just agreeing with him, not trying to enforce her opinion as law....

If you believe that, when David breaks a rule report it. The mods will apply the same rules to him as they do everyone else. Just because you don't like David does not mean he is breaking rules. Just because you don't like what he does with a WC ratsnake does not mean he is breaking the rules. When you scold him because you don't like what he has done, I think he is with the rules to tell you to mind your own business.

As to your rant above, your opinion of profanity and my opinion of profanity have no bearing on this discussion. As it was explained to my by one of the mods there are 7 words you cannot say on Television. Those same words are unacceptable here. Damn and piss are not one of those words. You found one of those words above, it was edited out.
 
Can we please stop antagonizing Josh, now? It's over and done with. No hard feelings. Just let it go.
