Sticking To The Ceiling
So today (yesterday actually), I was at Pet Supermarket checking out a tegu they had, which is a large carnivorous lizard that's somewhat like a monitor, and while I was picking it up, it was slapping my hand with its tail, but that's why I was picking it up; to help tame it a bit. Well, I've got my fingers lightly wrapped around it, and it swings its head over, bites onto my thumb, and PUUULLLLLLS.
So it hurt a bit initially, but didn't stop be from regrabbing the tegu and picking it up. And while I'm holding it, I find it's nice and calm now that it's out of its tank, so I glance at the bite. It's a little red, hurts a bit more, and has some scratch looking areas that look like they might ooze a little blood.
Well, after about ten minutes of holding the tegu and showing it to a few customers passing by, I put it back and go into the Employees bathroom to wash the wound. Heh, yeahhh... the three main scratches from its teeth are bleeding a little, but enough to be soaked up with a paper towel. So I washed my hands and the bite real good about three times, got it to stop bleeding for the most part, and applied some anti-bacterial cream to it (I keep it in my pocket whenever I know I'm going to play with ferrets, and they can scratch you real bad sometimes, even if they're just playing).
So I went to the front of the stored and played with the rabbits (one of which FREAKING BIT ONTO MY HAND, and then PULLED on the skin it had MULTIPLE TIMES! WTF!? I didn't think rabbits bit for no freaking reason! And not like a dog trying to eat a rawhide chewy!) and ferrets for a while, then went home. I had some shrimp for dinner, and about an hour or so after getting home, I go to the bathroom, and while I'm washing my hands, I notice the bite is red, swollen where its red, tender and painful.
Now, the tegu is probably a month old at the most, but around 4 inches long without the tail, but muscular. The bite wasn't like this at first, and it hurts constantly, but isn't throbbing or shooting pain; it's just pain that's there. Not only is the wound where it's swelling REALLY red, but my thumb in the general area has some light red to it. It was hard to get the coloring right, but it seems okay to me. It's impossible to see the swelling though. Just wondering what you guys think. It's been about 12 hours since the bite, so I guess it might get better. *shrug*
