Dont breed it to a corn the genticts in corns are already screwed up why make thigs worse. You got a great find there Hope you breed them to ytellow rats and keep the line pure !!!
 
Very nice, what part of the Peace? I'll be camping on it just south of Zolfo Springs here in a month or two
 
Awesome find and congrats! Put me down for a pair of hatchling yellows I always wanted to work with pure albino yellow rats not the intergrades passed off now a days.

Vinman you're right. In a few years I will cross a hatchling with a corn. Most of those who have seen her believe she has some corn in her already.

Butch, right off of 60, a little West of the Edgewood Boys Ranch.

I set her up in a sterilite, water bowl, she drank for 5 minutes, hiding box.....and she ate two mice.:cool:
 
not all yellow rats get strips as you know by hunting out in the feilds. Please post pics of the normal looking yellow rats from that area. I like to see what the normal population looks like

Oh I will I am a sucker for locality and oddball animals. This is the fourth albino I have heard of in the past 10 years but it is a shame a lot of these finds get horded away and never seem to pan out. I remember a guy posting a wild caught anery Yellow/Possible intergrade about 5-6 years ago on KS but I never heard anymore about that animal which is sad because snow Yellows would be sweet. I really look forward to hatchlings from this guy and Robbie's if you guys breed em. I will try to keep touch on this project as time goes by.

I agree that is true but this animal is unique as far as 'True' albino quadrivittata go. Most pure albinos I have seen pictures of tend to be a uniform mustard yellow with cream blotches or even yellowed blotches. But my view is this animal is pure due to the blotch count and shape of the blotches, at least from what I see in the pictures. I have also noticed that most WC morphs of P. o. quadrivittata tend to retain their blotches rather than express stripes which has caused confusion before.

The Anery found years ago and then posted on KS was questioned because of the visible blotches and lack of striping but I always thought it to be pure myself. Another reason I believe it to be a pure animal is Corns rarely mix with any of the obsoleta under normal circumstances, though I have seen pictures of WC specimens it is quite rare. Most often you find inter mixes of obsoleta before an obsoleta/guttata mix. Based on the area this specimen was found I also rule out a chance of any/much rossalleni influence. Again this is just my opinion from being out the field many times and talking with old time field herpers. Either way I would love to see some pics of other locality animals as well.

I'm leaning more toward....

breeding next year. Just seems better for the snake right now.

Vinman here are some pics of YR caught in Polk County. The first is in my collection right now. The rest were caught and relocated within the same area. Not sure if you follow the Ernie Caldwell thread. I'm a roadway inspector. My current job is a road built through virgin land. Last Summer lots of snakes..... and this Spring so far some nice snakes as well.....

No.....

about 50 miles North. I have seen YR from Ft. Meade just 10 miles or so from the albino. The Peace River does flow from where I caught her through the same area I've seen the Ft. Meade YR. Ya never know?
