Adorable survivor up for adoption! Bairdi hatchling

carol

Down with the sickness
So this adorable guy had some bad luck before he could even hatch. Flies had gotten into his clutch and laid eggs right underneath his egg. While looking perfect from the top, maggots hatched and ate through his shell. When I discovered them, they had eaten all the way through and out the top. There was a tiny hole out of the top and the egg felt much like a hollowed out easter egg. I figured the poor soul inside must have died but I did not remove it since it was attached to the others. A couple days later, this little guy popped out! He hatched about a week early and had no yolk reserves. I separated him and expected him to be dead everytime I checked on him. Well, he shed, and ate, and ate, and ate. So far this guy seems like he's gonna make it. Since I don't know if he has any issues that may pop up later, I am offering him to a good home for free. He's very small for a Bairdi but similar in size to a small hatchling corn. He eats f/t extra small pinks.

Let me know if you want to take him home, adopter pays shipping or can pick up at the San Jose show or Daytona.

The last pic is of him next to one of his clutchmates. His markings are very cool and different than the others, I wonder how he will develop!

Carol you're an amazing person, thank you for giving me another reason to smile today :)

Good luck to the lucky person who gets him!!!

Oh my goodness he is adorable with that stumpy looking nose. I hope he lives out a strong and healthy life for you. Congrats on taking him in and kudos to you Carol for taking the time to post such an caring ad.

Hello Carol, I wanted to let you know what happened to the little one. I'm sad to say 2 days after he arrived I found him dead in his bin. He was fine when he arrived. He was active and drank some water when I put him in his setup. His temps were good, had water and hides but I'm guessing the stress of shipping must have affected him. I was very upset and he showed no ill signs I just woke up, went to check on him and he was already gone.

Sorry I didn't contact you sooner to tell you about it but I was sick for awhile and then I'd forgotten that I didn't tell you till I saw this thread.
