Male and Female heat preference's

Hi all i have a question about wether male snakes prefer cooler temps than female snakes, it sounds stupid to ask but i keep both in the same tank and the female spends most of her time in the hide where its warmest (80), the male allso uses the hide but seems to spend most of his time anywhere in the tank, the coolist part of the tank is 68.
Is this normal??:shrugs:

Ok having read the FAQ's im more confused, i understand that one snake can eat another in the same tank but after being housed together for at least 24 months with no prob's then i can't see a problem, please note i do not disagree with what the FAQ's state or anyone on here but it makes more sence to me to keep these corns together as possible breeders in the hope that they do. Allso the cost of these corns is of no interest to me, i am there carer and my only interest or concern is to provide the best care i can.
No dissrespect baitman but the male is twice the size of the female

Lennycorn thank you for your response, the female does come out of her hide but only half as much as the male, she eats or has eaten 2 mice since i got them 8 days ago, the male on the other hand has had only 1 but it was a big 1, my thoughts on this are if he was going to eat her he would have done by now (2 years together) so as long as they are well fed i shouldn't have any prob's either, (they are in the same tank-decor-substrate-food-heat that they have had for 2 years)

Thank you Lennycorn for the good luck but i think it best to seperate the corns,i also believe its been pure luck that one hasn't tried to eat the other so far, i have a spare tank but no heater so its got to wait till after xmas then they will be on there own, as i said its there welfare that concerns me so whatever is best for them i will do.

It is also best to keep the snakes separate until the female is over 300 grams. If she produces eggs before then it will most likely kill her, even if she passes the eggs they'll be undersized and will not produce well. Before rushing into anything read as much as possible and don't be shy to ask questions.

If housed together for life they may end up like the two I just took in that had been housed together for 13 years. The female is constipated so bad she can only go when I massage her or let her take a swim. Each time she goes its enough for at least 2 mice, that is adult mice, I feed her weanlings. The male is also recovering from issues. Neither would come out of their hide much when they lived together, they constantly were in the same hide there. Now in their own cages they come out almost every day, the male is going on his own, the female is slimming down but I have to watch her for signs of illness from the constipation. I am amazed she did not die from eggbinding being so bad. She was forced to breed twice a year every year since she was 2. She will never be bred again. A healthy corn kept in her own and fed properly can, with luck, breed as long as 16 years, I have heard of 18 year old females still producing if in good health. Please consider the fact that if one gets ill you will have no way of knowing which it is and will have to pay to take both to the vet. That can cost more if you can only get to one of those vets that charge per animal for the office visit even if he sees them at the same time. While this pair never ate each other, I would not want to be forced to have babies every year just because I was capable. The Amel is the male, the snow is the poor female.
