JUST ANOTHER JOSH!!! LOL
So i woke up this morning to feed ma pygmy chameleons and i come to find that my male(pepito) had passed and was laying on the bottom of the tank. Idk wat i did wrong this where my first chameleons and probably my last. I kept my temps rite and my humidity 2 and just 2 days ago he was real active and chasing flightless fruit flies all around the viv. Im so sad and disappointed rite now, I knew they where gonna b a challenge, but i didnt think i was onna loose one.

I'm sorry, Josh. Those tiny ones are so adorable, but they look so fragile, too. Maybe the super cold temps last night had something to do with it. I've never been brave enough to try them. I think they are just very difficult. I'm sure you had everything just right.

thanx nanci, it just frustrates me u know. This guys where gonna b like my crown jewels of next years breeding and now i just hope my female does well, cuz she mite b gravid from another male she was housed with before i got her. This is such a downer...:(

I know, but I would think not totally unexpected. Were they CB? Or WC? You haven't had them long, maybe he had issues before you got him! They aren't super-expensive, maybe you should try again with another male. See how the female does.

yeah thats true with most chameleons, they where CB, they female was a year old and the male was a juvi. If the female does well for me then i mite get an adult male next show if i see one, cus i only saw one vendor with these guys.

Pgymy chams aren't as high maintinence as the usual chams that are pets, so don't worry. Give the female another month or so to see if she has any issues, then get another female and an ADULT male.

I say get another female because they're just so tiny, and a male won't stress them as much as just a single female. Some herpers also believe pygmys are actually somewhat social and do better in small groups.

Also, where did you get your's?

I think thats my game plan just let her settle in and start over with another pair of adults. The guy i got them from actually just breeds exotic mammals, this where just his pets and they just happened to breed well for him.

I am so sorry.
Thanx

Pygmy chams seem to breed quite prolifically.

I was hoping you knew a breeder. I wouldn't pay too much for a species like this that (to my knowledge) has no morphs.

Good luck with your next group though. c:

I am so sorry for your loss :(

I'm sorry for your loss. That sucks :(
Thanx i know, but im not giving up yet

Ugh i give up!!!! i was so happy just now when i got home from work cuz im getting my opossum, but now i just went into my room like i always do to check on everybody and my female pygmy has now passed also. i think im just gonna hold off on these guys for a while. This has kinda thrown me off alot since i did everything rite according to the books and the breeder.

Wow, I'm sorry! I would never try those again. I hate things dying. That is so sad.

But you have an adorable possum to look forward to!
