Went to the pet store, came home with something else.

Well Im to tired to do any more tonight but tomarrow Im going to make a temp Divider to seperate the male and female for a while and in the morning im ganna run back into town to petzoo and pickup some newspaper based bedding, Pine cant kill them over night I hope cause its all I had to put in there with some of my snakes aspen.

Thanks for the complement, Took longer then I thought it would haha.

O and btw, my wife asked me about how long should they be seperated? I meen like untill they are how big?

I love Pigs!!!! I grew up with them, my sisters brother and I each had our own. I think at 1 time we ended up with over 30. We would trade the local feed/pet store baby pigs for food.

The Abby is the black one, with all the cowlicks ;)

The cages look great :D Good job and your little one is adorable peeking in the cage...awwww.
Cavies can actually reproduce at 4 weeks of age...alot of times if the babies stay in with Mom's that long the boys get the sisters and Mom pregnant...

Do you plan on breeding them? If so then leave them together, she will have a better chance at having babies at a younger age then an older one, as a female pig grows, her bones will stiffen (or fuse) which makes delivery very difficult and could end up needing a c-section or she'll die. Babies are born the size of hamsters, fully haired, fully awake and running around so delivery is very hard on the Mom's.

Here's an awesome site on Guineas.

Me and my wife talked about breeding them once or twice but not sure. I think my wife wants to have babies at least once. After that I think we will put the females together and the males together ( and hope the males dont have it out like the OK coral) from then on. Then Again the couple we had first were male and female and have never breed but I suspect it could be one of them is sterile. We got them for free off of craigslist so I suspect one of them might possibly be fixed too. Dont know for sure but I know that we are the 3rd owners of them. The 2nd owners didnt want to clean the cages so thats why they were getting rid of them for free. I just added a 2nd 1x2 on the bottom of each cage to try to act as a wall because this morning I woke up to wood shavings all over the hardwood floor haha, but here in a few mins im going to run into town and pickup some paper bases substrate for them with some other things I need to get. The funny thing is, it was the new young pigs that made most of the mess, we caught them playing this morning in a full out run sliding to the edge nocking a bunch of substrate out on the floor lol.

The nice thing about the set ups is that I can take it all down fairly quickly if I need to. Like in a month or two we plan on repainting the living room ( Hate the colors) so that closet space will get painted too and the fence frames will get painted then too.

The new pigs are still pretty skittish. They run like mad men when you try to grab them but im hoping that if they are handled alot they will calm down. I some how doubt they have had alot of handling. The old pigs you can sit down on the couch or lay down and they just sit there on your chest and chill.

Over here we call those crazy coat guinea pigs 'brush haired', if that makes sense. I had a black female exactly like yours when I was a little girl but it died quite soon after I got it :( She was called 'Darka', after her dark coat of course :p

My mother had one when when we were very small that was free to walk around the living room sometimes and it would run in circles squeaking in front of the fridge if she went over to it, because it wanted a sip of coffee milk :)

Ya mine will sit on my chest if I kick back on the couch and she will sit there and chatter quietly, dont know if its because shes scared or just because thats how she is but its cute. My kids 2 pigs ( the big ones) will chirp at you really loud if they think they hear the Timothy hay bag being opened haha, or if they are hungery and out they will let you know in a hurry they are out lol.

That black guinea pig is adorable. I wanted a guinea pig. I did all the research. I went to a pet store and held one. I was enamored. I broke out in hives. Sometimes life sucks. :D

I was just thinking: "What an interesting paint scheme." I like weird colors. I've lived in white walled rentals for so long I dream about dramatic or crazy color combinations. When I finally own my own home every room will be different and the ceilings too.

So guinea pigs don't climb. I've never had a pet that didn't climb something. I heard they can be litterbox trained as well like cats and ferrets.

Karoni, that sucks! Im actually allergic to my pitbull mix lol. If I snuggle up to him I break out badly so I have to keep him down. I pet him alot and do play with him but I have to wear long sleaved shirts and change asap when Im done playing with him. Copper on the other hand the blood hound mix doesnt make me break out, i may get a little itchy but not bad.

And ya the guinea pigs dont climb out of there shelves/cages. They will run up and look out but havnt even attempted to climb out.

My wife is a GP fanatic (and now, so am I, I guess  )...easiest cage to keep clean are those big storage boxes Walmart and Target sells...just dump 'em out on the mulch pile and re-fill w/ bedding.

Sweetest little rodents ever...

ya, the people who lived here before us painted it......I hate the colors lol, in a month or two though we plan on painting it again. Me and my wife are still trying to find what color"s" we want to use.

Look kinda like tiny hippos...:roflmao:

It looks like a mutant between a hippo a dog and a pig...and yet I love the little face.

I have not read this entire thread, only got to page 3. Most of what has been said is incorrect. Please keep them separated and please do not breed them! If you want additional guinea pigs in the future please find a rescue to adopt from. A lot of animal shelters also have piggies that needs homes. There are 1000's of piggies in rescues that need homes.

Breeding guinea pigs is different than reptiles and amphibians. A guinea pig can become pregnant at 3 weeks of age and can become pregnant within 48 hours of delivering.
