Linoleum in vivs - new viv sketch

I know there's been talk in bearded dragon forums about linoleum being unsafe for flooring due to the potential to off-gas...

I wonder if it would be okay to do the back/walls of a snake viv though since there isn't such intense heat and no heat-source would be projecting directly onto it.

I will probably be going with real tile (ceramic/porcelain) for the bottom, just wondering if there's a way i can tile the back without it being so heavy.

Here's a sketch of what i'm going to be building (hopefully!)

I might be wrong please feel free to correct me. I know of many people that use linoleum in viv's I would just expose it to a heat source for a few days and then let it air out. I see it being no issue nor have I heard of it being one as long as you don't put in a new piece and then heat it up. It just needs a chance to cook out the smell.....

I bet leaving it in the sun would help, too. The sun gets out all kinds of weird stains and smells from stuff.

I use linoleum for the flooring in my viv, both chambers that my BPs are in have linoleum on the floor and so far they seem to be just fine. My heat pads are above the linoleum under a sheet of glass sealed in with hot glue with it vented out the back so the UTH doesnt over heat.

Is there a particular reason that you want to use linoleum as opposed to let's say...plexi or wood? :shrugs:
Also, I have to tell you how fabulous I think your design is! Will the displays be double glass that slides open or something else?

plexi would be fine, but expensive. Wood wouldn't be easily cleanable... tile and linoleum would wipe clean quickly and be easy to deep-clean as well. I'm really leaning toward real tile since two of my snakes like to climb.

The displays will be (probably) plexi that open on one side with a handle/latch on the right side (for the larger cages) and in the center (for the four smaller cages on the top)

looks a lot like my viv just bigger :p but I did glass floors and lino backs.

I had to search... if mine turns out half as nice as yours, i'll be happy! :D

The colours of the sketch are just coincidence.. my husband asked "why did you go with gold and black?" and I responded "I had a black sharpie in one pocket and found a gold gel-pen on top of the dryer"

I'll probably do some sort of blonde wood and white trim, i'm not entirely sure yet.
