I love this boy! He is my idea of the perfect bairds. Except for the bump on his nose from rubbing on his tub, he is perfect :)

I really dont see many of these metallic looking bairds around. I sold his sister a while ago, and now I regret it because I have yet to find a female that I want to breed him to.

Lauren, give yours some time, its just a yearling right? Hopefully yours will turn out just as nice!

I can't wait to see how my Baird from Carol turns out! I did some research and their coloration seems to be varied... which I really like! The ones I find nicest are the ones with mostly gray/silver and then just a splash/speckling of the oranges. So gorgeous!

Well, you could always rename him Rhino!

I think he's a perfect example too!! His eyes are amazing.. they look like someone etched them into copper! (lol, I'm into Intaligo)
Also, he's the perfect metallic grey with orange showing through!! If I could guarantee a Bairds would look like him when he grew up I'd probably add one to my collection!

I got him from Jimmy Johnson at Draybar Reptiles. He only breeds adults that look like this guy, so you are pretty much guaranteed this result. I got a pair and his sister looks just like this. With bairds, you really need to look at the parents, so it took me a while to find the perfect breeder.

Here is a head shot of his sister.

Here is a link to his other bairds, including the parents Rosie and Sam.

Close up shot! He still has that bump on his nose from tub rubbing. Maybe it will go away, eventually. Although it looks like it has gotten better since I originally made this thread, yay! But it makes him look kinda like a pug nose LOL

So its been a while since I updated this thread but today I brought Cain in for another lump. For those who did not follow Cain, he had surgery last November for two lumps in his throat: http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117820

Since then, he has been completely fine and 100% healed. About a month ago I noticed a lump on his spine. I did not take any photos because its pretty hard to see but easy to feel. Its about 1/3 down the length of his body. It felt rock-hard. So today I took him back to his favorite vet to get it looked at. Get this. Its a broken rib that healed in a weird position!! Dont even ask me how that happened because he has nothing heavy in his cage and I have never dropped him. His vet said that hes seen so many reptiles with injuries no one knows how they happened. They are fragile in that sense but they heal perfectly fine.

The reason Im posting this is because from the first set of pictures in my OP, you can see that big nose lump. His vet went ahead and removed that today. It turned out to be an old abscess. Today, it was huge again like in those first set of photos. It was an abscess that would come and go, but causing no harm to Cain. Today, for the first time in probably 4 years, my boy has a normal looking nose! YAY! (he is still kinda blunt-nosed though due to the cage rubbing). The vet also said that its a very common place for snakes to get an abscess, and that he just removed one in the same spot on a ball python a week ago.

He looks great! How did the vet remove the abscess?

He gave him a local anesthetic then lanced it and removed the capsule using hemostats. Took 5 minutes. I put some ointment on it and the first thing he did when he got to his tub was burrow in the aspen... of course!

Beautiful Angela! Too bad our pairing didn't work out last year...:-(

I know, I was very bummed about that. I did try her this year with this handsome boy because bairds usually have small clutches, but she just wasnt receptive and he wasnt interested.

I am so glad that he is ok. He is such a pretty boy.

Thanks Christen!

Got a bunch of the snakes outside today since it was gorgeous out, so it was perfect for taking pictures! Cain has done very well post-surgeries and no other lumps have popped up. So thats a good thing. At least whatever it was in his throat was localized and not cancerous. He was happy to get out a little bit today.

Cain spent most of his time trying to get to a squirrel hole under the only tree in the yard. When he figured out I was not going to let him, he finally laid out on the grass in the sun.

He is the biggest snake in my collection (until the carpet python grows up that is). Weighing in at a little over 500g, he is 4.5 ft long!

I love this boy :)
