Introducing my first snake!

Hey everyone!
I've posted a couple questions in the last couple weeks, and today I finally got my first snake! I had originally planned on picking one out at an Expo, but I kept getting a bad feeling about the venders, so instead I placed an order with Don Soderberg at South Mountain Reptiles. This morning my new little striped butter arrived and I'm SO happy. He's absolutely beautiful and I think we're going to be very happy with each other!

Better pictures coming later!

Thank you! I'm so glad that I did my research and came across SMR! Being new to corn snakes I wasn't sure where to go or who I could trust, but once I came across SMR and started looking into them I knew I had to buy from them.

Thank you! I still haven't given him a name yet. All the "snaky" names I had came up with don't seem to fit him. lol

oh how cute!

yeah I could see how snake names wouldn't fit him, he's YELLOW! lol but handsome none the less.

what about yellow in a different language? like in French it sort of sounds like "john" lol
or something cute like lemon drop??

I'm not sure to be honest! but whatever you pick I sure hell like it ;)

Every time I see snakes this color, I think of this old commercials - "It's not butter, it's Parkay!" Yellow in Portuguese is amarelo, might could have some fun with that. In Welsh, it's melyn...

I was thinking of yellow-based names too, but there's SO many choices! I was thinking of waiting until he settles in, and I can handle him for more than a minute, to decide on a name. It's easier to see what fits when you have them right there in front of you.

I was actually thinking of Brutus! lol I'm being so indecisive about this, and I'm usually fast with picking names. I can't wait for this week or so wait to be over because I can't wait to handle him and feed him for the first time! This wait is killing me. lol

Way to do your homework Katie, you can not go wrong with Don's snakes :)

Aw thanks! haha I don't purchase any new animal without doing a ton of research beforehand. That's my biggest pet peeve--when people don't have at least a basic knowledge of an animal before buying one, then having to correct all their mistakes as they go.

But I'm definitely going to be recommending SMR to anyone looking to purchase their first corn! One of the best experiences I've had with a breeder.
