Just venting.. We have a local pet store down here named valley pets.... Idiots know nothing, kill everything, horrible store... anyway..
Last year I purchased sold my pet blackthroat monitor to someone on craigslist, he told me he was experienced, that he knew the guys at valley pets. I told him never to treat his monitor like that, because their monitors are DISGUSTINGLY poorly taken care of. I gave him some proper husbandry info, told him a good diet to use ETC... Today I went into valley pets on a whim, because I was bored and looking for some more 6' cages.
Sure enough, my boy had wound up there. In the same cage as their dehydrated malnourished "monster" - the store mascot. He was dehydrated, beyond under fed, and in fact- the first thing my girlfriend asked is "is that lizard dead?". I found pics on my phone of what he used to look like, and found he was the same animal I used to own based on comparing a few markings. He had lost a lot of his weight, all his color was gone, and he was laying limp while monster walked all over him... He managed to move about an inch just so I knew he was at least still a little bit alive....
I'm disgusted that this happened to him. It's repulsive.
They have thankfully decided to sell their big female burmese... Hopefully I can rescue it out of there and find it somewhere decent to live... I'm appalled and will have plenty of words for them tomorrow when I get there.....
They only want $500 for their big burm, but I my hatchlings aren't even out of the egg yet this year, so I can't just buy a rescue case... Apparently it's a mean burm too... grrrrrrrr
