after my father died i inherited many guns. ive kept them clean but shot them very little. one gun in particular, i have never shot.

so any ways what i though was a 30-0-6 is actually a .25-0-6

its a very nice rifle he even mounted a bipod and a( leupold vari-x lll 6.5 x 20 efr)

not a very cheap set up $$$$$$

are 25-0-6 common rounds ?

reading that its basically a scaled down version of the 30-0-6 but with them same amount of powder?

Ah, that makes sense, then. The shooting sports are a lot of fun. Sometimes I think I might want to try the IPSC matches.
 
25-06 is fairly common but probably not considered among "popular calibers". I would think most sporting goods stores that carry ammo would have 25-06 and probably Walmart too. Sounds like your dad had a nice little collection. Be safe and enjoy.

yeah Im thinking of adding to it looked at a savage axis 308 today wow was it nice and so light!
 
Don't sweat it, I've bought 4 digit pistols and had the exact same sentiment. The important things are learn, be safe, have fun, and get good! You have to be pretty experienced to even notice the difference between the budget and custom line of the same firearm, to be honest. A bolt action rifle is inherently accurate and easy to shoot. You'll be busting out bulls-eyes in no time!

haha i tend to agreed i use to race motorcross and the difference between certain parts where unnoticeable until you got better
