Wiki Leaks verdict nearing

I don't know a lot about this case. I do think his choice of who to release the info to was an incautious error at best.

In general I think whistle blowing should be taken seriously. We need accountability for actions and this is a way of attaining that end. That said if the whistle blowing risks the lives of those in the field then that IMHO is just as egregious. It's a thin line for sure. Wikileaks was probably a bad move but letting someone know, if there was wrongdoing, was proper. Again IMHO.

Sure, but who is going to make the government accountable?
Good question. Usually they are never accountable (Benghazi, Fast and Furious, NSA, IRS, etc, etc), but that's another story.

If it were me I would have done something like this (low detail overview) ...

- make copies stored in safe places
- make persons I trust aware
- bread trail my intent to whistle blow
- find a reputable law firm that has the capability to take on the fedgov
- prepare a press release of the fact that the info exists (not actually releasing the info)
- only release the info if nothing is done
- prepare to have my life destroyed by those that are suppose to be working for the people

Hah! The government simply tends to label everything it does as being necessary for "national security", and they get away with EVERYTHING when whistle blowing then becomes (as defined by THEM), TREASON.

Seriously, when you have a group of people who WRITE the laws, do you really think they will write and pass laws that will be unfavorable or restrictive to THEM?

Remember, they tried that with the cap on the federal debt limit, and look how well that is turning out.

When I used to work for the Florida Legislature, I sat in on some of their sessions and it was definitely an eye opener. First order of business every morning was a vote on "suspending the rules". Which passed, of course. Never did find out what those rules were that they were suspending, but I figured they didn't much like rules restricting them in any way.

Sad fact of the matter is that NO legislature at any level can create a law or rule that can restrict a future legislation from voting it out of existence. Think about that one for a minute.

Got it? So why doesn't the current legislature simply repeal the debt limit cap a past legislature put in place?

Yep, no one wants to grab throw themselves onto that sword, now do they? They would rather try to push the other team onto it. So every few months we get to see them pushing and shoving each other in this game they are playing. A game they are apparently perfectly willing to keep on playing until this country is irrevocably bankrupted.

YUP, I think about this all of the time.
It's because greedy selfish people are attracted to powerful positions unfortunately and someone always has to be in charge; not matter what rules are laid or properties and responsibilities distributed.
It will always come around 360 degrees.
Our Country had a good run.

That's why I think the thought process of Socialistic Libertarians is funny. They believe that everyone shall have their own freedoms with the exception of resources, which would be evenly distributed throughout all citizens.
Sure. Might work. Except someone always has to pull the strings... someone has to organize and legislate.

What countries have successfully utilized either socialism or communism to the benefit of ALL the people within their country?

Speaking of aiding the enemy ...

This admin is considering arming the Syrian rebels, many of which are tied to al qaeda. If I am not mistaken we are still fighting al qaeda correct. Wouldn't that make DC guilty of aiding the enemy?!?! :shrugs:
