Am I crazy???

Lol she has had a fear of snakes since she was little and is afraid of mine from her house lol.
hypnoctopus- I can never imagine having 10 but anything is possible lol.

You know, they're so low maintenance that having 10 is hardly any different than having 2 or 3. Although my room is filled with tanks...

Pretty much true. Change water regularly, feed every 5 - 7 days, clean viv every few weeks or so depending on size and handle a reasonable amount. Not much to it.

I spend maybe (including holding) 20 minutes on my snake a day. When i don't hold it, 5 - 10. And that's mostly just viewing through the viv glass with the kid or wife.

Yes, and I am lucky to live in Phoenix!!! I really want that baby Snow with the heart on her head too though! Omgosh!! I might end up with both.. holy smokes!!

I'm not sure if you're a fan of red snakes, but I really recommend Christen's amels. My amel, Wilma, was my first snake and I got her from Christen. Her amels are really pretty and very red.

Here's Wilma:

I started out with corn snakes but soon became addicted to kingsnakes. Only have 2 corns but now I have 4 kingsnakes with 2 babies from a breeding loan on their way to live with me. I would also like to add some black rat snakes.

I also branched out into other herps. I got a bearded dragon. But not really too into lizards. They are a little more work (eat a lot every day).
Mainly my other addiction is frogs and toads. I like toads a little more than frogs actually. I have 4 regular bullfrogs, 1 albino bullfrog, 6 tree frogs and 3 toads.

Yes, Christen's Amels are gorgeous! very deep red and orange! I also saw one of her snow females. gorgeous!

I started with a cal/fl kingsnake first had him 11 yrs and finally got the urge to get a corn, had my amel corn a week and knew I wanted another. Only fellow reptile parents understand the love we have for our "scale babies".

Being a "cornaholic" (keeper of corn snakes) is like being an "orchaholic" (collector & windowsill orchid grower)
Both "holic" tribes contribute enthusiastically with enabling & encouraging more ....
Neither of the aforementioned groups have a 12 step program (unnecessary)
In both cases one almost immediately leads to several & then .... space constraints.
And like chips, "betcha can't have just one" lol

I can totally understand how easily this could become an addiction! Speaking of orchids, have you seen the beautiful Orchid Corn snake morph?? Gorgeous!!

Look at my tiny 4 pound chihuahua checking out my new baby Venus! She is not sure what to think of these snake babies! LOL

Why do I have a feeling your collection will soon be the most vast out of any newer member on the board here? Haha.

Love the name you gave it. Would have never thought planets, unless you named her after the tennis star, haha.

hehehe. I know, I am a little obsessed suddenly! :) Yah, the planet or Goddess, not the tennis player, teehee!!

Hey, if you got the space, the love and care (which is so totally obvious), then all the power to you. Wish I had the room, but after moving into a town home with my wife and kid last year we are working on freeing up space before I can own too many more.

I'll be lucky getting the one more this fall/winter I have in the works.

Ok, since I am still new at this, maybe someone can help me understand these terms?? I believe this is what my little Tessera is (Christen, feel free to chime in)

Female Tessera possible het amel, anery, stripe and diffused.

What is 'het', and what are 'anery' and 'diffused' ??

The Het essentially means that your corn can possibly have the genes to produce those different morphs if bred to another corn with the same hets. It may not. Sometimes there are percentages like 33, 66, 100, etc. My understanding thus far is if there is no percentage odds are typically lower??? Not a 100% clear on that though.

Check out this page for more info on the morphs your snake may be possibly het for. Good info here:

ohhh, so that basically means Venus is a Tessera, but she could potentially have amel, anery, stripe or diffused babies??
