Personally....I think Music in general,took a nose dive right around '85-'89. Past that...it's all crap.
In most aspects I agree. Most of my favorite music is from/around the 70's. I don't think the music these days is as high of quality. I don't see as many post-1990 bands having a lasting appeal, but maybe I'm just being cynical. Maybe adults were saying the same thing back in the 60's-80's about that generation of music. Guess I'll see what they're still playing 40 years from now. If it's Justin Beiber, I will lose all hope in humanity. That said, I still think there is a lot of top-notch new music out there, if one digs through the landslide of mediocrity. Maybe there is an equal amount of excellent music being produced, but it is diluted out by all the mediocrity and crap these days, making the concentration of good music appear falsely low.

Not sacrilegious at all! This new album just isn't up to KISS standards by a long shot. I thought "Sonic Boom" had more of a "Destroyer" type feel to it.
All of this has come around because KISS has FINALLY been nominated by the rock hall of fame. They aren't in yet.... But they do lead the voting by some 9000 votes over nirvana.

Went to a concert in 1976, I think it was. Only had the "Destroyer" album, but never put up any posters. Had a t-shirt that somehow survived 1,347 washings.
I also carried a D.R.E.A.D. card for several years (Detroit Rockers Engaged in the Abolition of Disco). Good times!

I've had a blast pawing through flea market, oldie vinyl records. Which in my area consists primarily of the 70's era rock n roll. But KISS is one of those groups.. just can't do it.
I'm more into the Beatles (George Harrison), Creedence, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Springsteen Allman Brothers, and even some Led Zepplin and Jimi Hendrix, as far as rock pre-mid-80's. But I'm a big fan of the era as a whole.. Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Temptations, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh.. the music just seemed to come from a more wholesome place back before I was even a twinkle.

My older sister did "All of the above" and was a hard core Kiss fan. Being a bit younger I was not as huge a fan, but kind of inherited the Kiss albums when she went to college. & I listened to them, a lot. I think "Rock and Roll Over" was my favorite. I don't listen to them a whole lot anymore because I think everything after they took off the makeup was crap. I still like the songs from back in the day though!

I cannot argue with this. Pretty Much, Something was lost when Peter left...then when Ace was let go....yeah...it was bad. Just never did regain that "destroyer" "Hotter than Hell" "Rock-n-roll over" edge.
