Introducing "Crescent" my High White Reverse Okeetee,

I purchased him/her on November 14, 2013, I'm told he's about 4 months. I am unsure of his sex right now but I hope to know for sure this weekend.

Have patience please, this is my first snake and Im anxious to share this with you and I'm excited.

I have no pictures of me holding him just yet as I haven't mastered the whole holding him and picture taking thing yet as he is very squirmy, he does seem to mind being handled but he's curious.

This is Crescent temporary home until he grows a little more, its a 18x18 cube that I had up in the basement. I think it will do jt fine for now, he seems happy so far with enough room to roam.

Thanks guys, I have only had him 2 1/2 days, I'm being patient but its hard. I am trying to let him settle in. He was all over the place when I first got him but now he just sits in his hides, he eat Saturday, I am so anxious to handle him so he gets to know me a little.

Yeah, their behavior is a bit wonky when they first get home.
Phase 1: Search for ESCAPE!
Phase 2: Hide because anything can kill me!
Phase 3: Food then sleep and digest.
Phase 4: Yay I'm free! Oh wait, what, nooooo not back in the box!
Phase 5: Ok, I'm not gonna die. BACK TO ESCAPE!

Ha Ha Ha, that's great...thanks. I will keep this in mind. Gee they say Cats are independent, I think snakes are bigger snobs that Cats.

You don't have to tell exactly, but was it the "Mom and Pop" store on Eastern Ave.? (edit: stupid question; that would be exactly :uhoh:) Great example of an RO. Huge borders and boy are you going to be in for a nice surprise as the ground color fills in :*)

Thanks, I cant wait for him to grow up.
This guy was bought in East Patrick Street in Frederick Maryland.

I wanted to let Crescent settle in a few days before I handled him but after 3 days I couldn't resist. I brought him out this evening for only 15 minutes. He was very squirmy at first as I expected but he settled down quickly. He seemed very comfortable with me.

I was surprised, I set him down and he kept going for the blanket that my Cat sleeps on, I would have thought that he would of avoided it.

He's back in hid enclosure now, I really want to bring him out again as I really want him to get used to me. Is there a certain amount of time a baby should or shouldn't be handled at first?

As long as he gets time to eat and poop, and doesn't stop eating from being stressed you can handle him daily. I would avoid taking him out/putting back in over and over, but even that doesn't seem to faze most healthy corns.

Day Four, Crescent is becoming much more comfortable around me, he seemed very at ease tonight.
