Rattle Snake in my Driveway

I used to not mind it so bad, but anymore a 72 degree year long thing would work for me lol

LOL, that's funny as hell because I feel the same way. I am planning for retirement in 4 years and I'm planning for the Keys.

I want to live the rest of my life in shorts, flip flops and a fruity drink with an umbrella in it.

I am retired, but will stay here in the bluegrass. I have lived in a lot of other states and here is home. Besides I have an ex in Florida lol

They can be very very very very far and few here in my part of MO. They're still out there (in Kansas City that is), just not around most of the developed part of the city. Suburbs and expanding areas still have a bit of wilderness left for them to call home though.

I personally LOVE the cold since I have to work outside all the time and working under a sweaty horse in the hot summer just plain sucks. Timbers are actually pretty cold tolerant and will be out later than many. Crofab is pretty sucky for most of the N.A. vipers and takes a lot to do the job, but it's what we have available here. It does work, just takes a lot of vials...which is something to remember when they are charging you a couple thousand a bottle.

I think Ill just avoid them altogether just to be safe.

I love photographing them and actively hunt for any snakes I can find including the hots....most of the time they are pretty much just hanging out. I did find a big cane female crossing the road and hooked her off to the side to keep her from getting run over. She feinted once at me and then just sat there and rattled. I later had to push her to get her to go.....it was awesome!

You might want to look around the rest of the state. The keys are great, but a LONG drive from anywhere. If you get more up toward the middle, the beach is still just a 90-120 minute drive from anywhere, and you have the everglades, Georgia and NC mountains, etc. within easy reach, too.

I'm a transplant from MN- I've had enough cold for my life. I don't miss it at all.

I love this video about rattlesnakes: (Well- I don't love rattlesnake roundups, but I love that the message is getting out- what really happens there, and how cruel it is. But I love that this demonstrates how rattlesnakes don't attack everyone).

Ok, great tip, I have been to The Keys, Tampa, and Destin this year on business.....I never want to go home. I admit its purty where I live but I am a Beach Bum. AND I have a Boat that's useless in the mountains. LOL

I'm a noob to Snakes but I have learned so much in such a short time and this F$%^ing disturbs the heck out of me. OMG how mean and cruel. I admit RS are very mean and intimidating but I would never intentionally harm one. Damn this pisses me off but in the same time it educated me

They aren't mean. Any snake will bite you if you provoke it enough. We were discussing charitable donations in another thread- this is something I choose to donate to.

What I meant to say was mean and intimidating looking.

What is the link to the other thread?

My buddy is in Jacksonville which is only 7 hours from me here in Aiken and he's right near the beach...a little farther to NC but GA is right on the way....come through and start towards my house you'll pass through Jasper county and the famous Okeetee Hunt club.....

Ditto.

Ditto x 10^23. The Maldives....French Polynesia, the Solomon Islands.....but with zero other people. But must have cable, internet, a BestBuy, and preferably an Apple Store. Which I realize would require _some_ people.
