Non-2014 Hatchling Photo Session

Very cool light box Chris, thanks for sharing.
I was wondering how yours was set up compared to others I've seen. What is the wattage of the lights you are using both on sides and top ??

BTW, to keep you from always having to waste time on photographing that ugly @$$ Stripe Ghost thing, you can just send it over here.
I'll be sure not to take pics. of it :uhoh:.....:poke:

You can blame Steve for poking me to get pics of him from a lengthy conversation he and I had. It just happened to be convenient that he'd shed 2 days prior. Sterling, the pewter/caramel pewter (breeding will reveal that) from Steve just shed last night. I can toss pics of her up too. :D Do you prefer Himalayan pink, sea, iodized, or kosher salt? :p

The light on top is a CFL, 23w 6500K (aka daylight) bulb. The lights on the sides are Nikon flashes, my lovely SB-800 and -600. My Nikon D300 serves as the commander flash (the built-in flash). The SB's are set wirelessly, and are triggered when the flash on the camera is fired. I keep meaning to get flash sync cords to guarantee the flashes fire accurately, but I keep buying corns. :dunce: Maybe my priorities are backwards? :shrugs:

Would love to see it !!

Gottcha. Well, your light box set up in defiantly a bit more elaborate than others I have seen.
I'm sure a bit more pricey as well, but it sure pays off in the long run. Your images are amazing man !!

Should I get time today I'll try for some pics of her.

The soft box is actually really cheap. The frame is made out of PVC, with the legs fully removable. I got a cheap white sheet from the antichrist (Walmart), cut it up, and then hemstitched (that's right ladies, I said hemstitch...I can cook, sew, run long distance while chewing gum, own center field in baseball and softball and keep reptiles...sorry I'm taken) the sides for a snug fit. Velcro is used to keep the sheet taut over the frame. Due to the house I'm in having light tan walls, I'm using white poster sheet on the back panel. Without it, the tan bleeds into the color rendering of the shots. Even using a 18% neutral gray card I have trouble correcting the white balance.

It's Cholula for me ;) I could eat toilet paper dipped in that stuff.

Great photos as usual Chris!!!
I like that one too. Although I wouldn't go so far as to eat toilet paper... LOL

Love the additional babies!

You're right. SR has horribly ugly babies. I'm not sure how he can handle all that in his home. ;)

Cool, look forward to seeing it !!

What I meant by "a bit more pricey" is the lighting.
I'm sure the flashes & tripods cost more that the regular ole incadescent light bulbs I've seen used on other light boxes ;)
