Do you get both red and gray phase in the same clutch? If so, is it obvious in hatchlings or do the red phases take some time to color up?

Yes same clutch, these are siblings. Here are pics. of them not to long after they hatched.

They are just like regular Cinders from the begining in that some could be red, some could be gray..............these are just in the pheno of Ultramel.

Thanks for the info. I wonder if breeding two red phases together will reduce the frequency of gray phase offspring? And vice versa? I like them both!

Not sure :shrugs:?? I don't think anyone got into testing that out.
I remember though, way back when Rich Z. first started to produce these there were both phenos.

At that time they were thought to be a 3rd. form of Anerythrism, which didn't make sense. How could a Anerythristic have red color??

Carol Huddleston was probably the second person to produce them unexpectedly from some offspring that she got from Rich. There is also the fact that one of the first breedings Carol did with Cinder (from what I can rememeber) was incorporate it into her Miami lines. It's very possible this could be a factor as well.......

....seeing these two (Ultramel Cinders) are from my Buttermint, which was produced from 1.1 Amels het Caramel Cinder that I got from Carol as hatchlings....the Amels could derive from Carol's Cinder/Miami line.

Why, oh why were your plasmas not ready in time for the shipment!!! Oh well, there's always next year, right? ;)

That Ultramel Candy Cane amazes me at how clean it is. And the Anery Golddust Hurricane Motley is developing SO nicely!

Geez, Walter. Don't you ever get sick of all your super boring corn snakes? If you want, I'd be happy to trade you all of my amels, aneries, and snows so you could start working with some interesting stuff.

Seriously, though, I don't know if I can pick a favorite out of that group. A lot of really amazing animals there.
