Mystic Exotics 2015 project plans!!!

MysticExotics

(formerly NWHeather)
Here are the projects I am working on this year;

RF Tessera het Fire (Cinaed) X Cayenne Fire (owned by John Finsterwald of Pikes Peak Reptiles, formerly known as Colorado Corns)- We're hoping to see some stunning Cayenne Fire Tessera's!

Sunglow Tessera het Anery ph Bloodred X Coral Snow (owned by my friend Rami of Nova Reptiles-This is part two, of a project I started with Cinaed (RF Tessera het Fire) X Coral Snow. The Sunglow Tessera male is from that pairing, and he is being paired with the daughter of his Dam. (SMR line Coral Snow). I am excited to see the babies from this clutch!

WC Locality Alabama X WC Locality Alabama-I'm hoping to have a nice clutch of Alabama babies out of this pair.

**Aside from the Cayenne Fire female and the Coral Snow female, all of the other breeders listed will be for available sale after the projects are complete.

Cayenne fire tesseras sound pretty! Do you think their striping will be visible when they are mature?

Thanks Jen!
Wendy, that's a good question. The pattern on the RF Tessera het Fire that I will be using in the project did lose some distinction as the RF took over, but you can still see it.
It will be interesting to see what the babies look like. :)

Here's the sire as a baby and as an adult, and one of the dam.

My thought is that the dorsal Tessera stripe will be visible, even if just a little, like the sire, Cinaed, and the sides will be diffused, but that's my guess.
I've not seen a Cayenne Fire Tessera yet.

I decided to go ahead and post pics of the parents for the other pairings as well.

This is the Sunglow Tessera het Anery ph Bloodred (produced out of Cinaed, the RF Tessera het Fire X SMR line Coral Snow), he will be paired with another Coral Snow (daughter to the other Coral Snow, his half sibling).

Here are the WC Alabama's.

The male is from Pike Co, the female is from the north Alabama area.

Update 6/14/15:

Nothing so far from the RF Tessera het fire X Cayenne Fire pairing.

Eggs being laid right now from the Sunglow Tessera het Anery ph Bloodred X Coral Snow Tessera pairing!!
She appears to be still laying, so I didn't look too long. There appears to be a few slugs, and I do see a couple that look fertile, so I am keeping my fingers crossed!

Nothing from the WC Alabama pair (who have recently gone to their new home).

I did end up with another project that was last minute...
Miami Tessera X Miami Tessera (both ph Amel).
19 eggs laid 5/29/15, all of them are still doing great! She does ahve a history of double clutching, so I am watching her for a second clutch of eggs.

Update 7/15/15: The Miami Tessera ph Amel (to same) eggs have about a week left to go on incubation. All 19 eggs still look great!
I am very excited to see the babies emerge!

There should be about 75% Miami Tessera's (some being Super Tessera's) and the rest being Miami's.

The three eggs from the Sunglow Tessera het Anery X Coral Snow are not looking good. I think he got her a little late in her ovulation.
We will be trying that pairing again next year, along with the RF Tessera het Fire X Cayenne Fire pairing, which did not result in any eggs this year.

Discovery of "Super Tessera's"

In short, being a dominant gene, when breeding a Tessera to a non Tessera, about half of the babies will be Tessera's. When breeding a Tessera to another Tessera, about 75% of them will be Tessera's, andabout 25% of those, should be Super Tessera's, and when bred to a non Tessera, will produce 100% Tessera's.
