Old polls

Mice! They taste so nice!
If there was a general consensus, could polls over a year old be locked?
In that way, anyone could still find them by trawling backwards through the listings, but they would stop coming up as new posts every time they get resurrected.
What do people think?:shrugs:

I like it, you got my vote. Also, maybe they could un-option the part where you have to say when it "expires" upon posting any poll.

Sounds good.
But some polls are fun to see the results.
I guess it also depends on which polls,
If there are new members that want to participate and they can still cast their vote, it "stops" them from creating another poll that's practically the same

Personally I wouldn't object to someone creating a new 'your favourite morph' type thread, it's just that some old polls rise from the dead every few months or so.
They wouldn't be deleted, just disabled!

hey, it's all fine by me :)
Maybe a new "your favourite morph"-thread would give different results.
Favourites can change.

I just thought I'd see what people thought about it, because setting up a poll about it, that may then become a perpetually resurrected creation of my own would be random even for me!

As a bit-twiddler, I LOVE recursion! ;)

But I'm all for it - programatically, you should be able to still vote on an old poll and still not be able to have it bumped to the top of new messages....

I agree, old polls drive me crazy. I don't know if locking them is the best way to go about it but If there were some way for them not to go to the top of the new posts list every time somebody votes on one.
Here's my philosophy contribution for today.
'There are two kinds of people in the world, those who divide people into two kinds and those who don't!'

Dale, it would be too ironic for comfort if I was haunted forevermore by a poll about stopping Lazarus polls :eek1:

And of course, you do realize you're tempting fate by divulging this information to me.

Bonus points on the obscure reference, as well!!!!

But the irony will be lessened if someone other than I starts the poll! (You evil, low-down, nasty man!)

You made me do the coffee- down the nose-snort!
Got that on film, per chance?

On the OP... right now, if someone votes, but not posts, it still gets bumped to the top. I wonder if rigging it such that only when someone posts it gets bumped to the top would be an interim fix. See if that cuts down on all the zombie posts rising out of the grave.

Can't rep you Janine, but you get my vote on this. It goes along with people who don't read previous posts, not just the first. But hey to much time on my hands winter has set in and I'm tired of reading old polls.:bang:
