Tadpoles At The Pet Store!!

maegann

I'm Me, Deal With It
I was at the pet store yesterday and they had two big tadpoles in one of the fish tanks!! They where $1 a piece and of course I had to have them. Well, now I have them and I have no idea what they are, lmao (the owner of the pet store said he didn't know and wouldn't be able to tell till they morphed). They are each about 3 inches long, and I think might be different species. One is a light brown with dark spots and the other is green with no spots. Any help would be loved, I cant find the site I usually use for this.

Thanks a bunch!

lol they are so funny, i remember I saw tadpoles in ponds and I took them from there but they were very little, like a big ant size, but if you took them out of the pond they died so fast

Sooner or later Tadpoles are going to be hit next by DNR and state regulations, mainly those of Bull frogs.

From what I have read is that people will buy these Tadpoles and place them in their Garden pools and when they grow to be frogs they are released into the wild. Many states that did not have the American Bull Frog do now because of this.

But I do love Tadpoles. :) those are very cool.

who said anything about releasing them?? lol

thats y i bought them, they were only $1 each and i knew someone was gonna buy them for a pond, so i "suggested" to my parents that I get them, lol

Much to my surprise, I just found out that Roy has Garter snakes. He'd know what to do with them.

Most likely they are bull frog or leopard frog tadpoles, either which will be big frogs that require a big cage when grown. I hate that pet stores sell tadpoles:(

Hey- Roy has mouse-eatin' garters! They don't eat fish or fish-like creatures!

I think those garters, especially the Pugets, would eat just about anything. Of course, those tadpoles probably weigh more than they do at this point.

I dig tadpoles and frogs. I used to love hatching frogspawn as a kid. :)

If it's a Marine Toad, don't kill him- I'll take him!!

lmao, im not killing anyone!! :D

i cant find a pic of a marine toad tadpole, hmmmm

(i never said i was an expert on internet searches, lmao) but I will deff let u know what happens nanci :D

Oooh... I love tadpoles!

I used to have a big frog tank when I was little. I bought tadpoles from the store, raised them up in a different tank, and then transfered them to my "froggitat". It was a pretty fun project actually.

I couldn't help with identifying these guys. I don't even remember what species I had. :shrugs: Best of luck with them though!

the cuban tree frogs were easier to figure out, i will just have to wait and see what these are : D
