This is the best part of keeping snakes...

It's Jager time!
... when troubled babies start to flourish into adulthood. I have had Griet for just over a year now. And in that time she has went from a pathetic 16 gram yearling that chronically regurged (for 6 weeks) and refused food to a 160 gram stunning silver snake who strike feeds even in shed. Up until 3 months ago she was still an unbelieveably picky eater, you only had to nudge her box to put her off or not dry off the mouse to perfection. Now she strike feeds mice or rats and her new development is eating in shed. I fed her last night and woke up to a perfect shed this morning... I am so proud of this little snake :dancer:

Awesome photographs - as per usual :)

Love the last picture.
It's like she's thinking.
" I can see myself "
or " You want something, punk? "

OOOOOH.... PRETTY!

Good job with her! I'd alternate between crying and smacking my head against the wall on regurge #2... so your commitment is awesome.

I know I'm not saying anything I haven't before... but you take the most amazing pics! I'd say photos like these may actually make the snake even more pretty than in person.

Oh yeah... tell me about it. :angry01:

Thank you :) My macro lens deffinatley pics up details that you wouldn't see with the naked eye, but I wouldn't say it makes the subject prettier. She is just as pretty in person :) It's not like the wee details aren't there...

Griet is Gorgeous! My Granite shed recently, and as he is growing, he's also getting more pink to him, which I'm thrilled about.

I took your advice and bought a Nikon D40, but now I need to get the macro lens--you take the most amazing photos (and of course, your snakes are beautiful)!

Outstanding photos as always Elle. I am running out of superlatives!
Doesn't hurt that you have such beautiful subjects to work with and Griet is no exception. I am so happy that she is doing so well for you. All your hard work was most definately worth the effort!

She's lovely and the love you've lavished on her shows in her very healthy appearance. Congrads to both of you!

Thanks! She acts healthy now too.. before she would shy away or try to eat you whenever you went into her box. Shes all bold and bright now :)

She is stunning! I love the pink in her.

Amazing pics!

Thanks Rich :) That pink hue is not so noticeable in person...

The 40 is a fabulous camera... I love the versitility of the kit lens so you should be able to get some lovely shots with that alone. As for macro lens' I have the Sigma 105mm and I simply adore it.

I think she's your most beautiful corn.

Thanks Nanci... I have to agree that shes the nicest grey corn I have but I think Dior is stealing the lavender top spot lol.

Thank you so much Katie. It really does make you think about the importance of the hobby etc when the bad outweighs the good sometimes. I have never not enjoyed keeping snakes, but I was ready to strangle myself with Griet as a baby LOL
