Hatching Racks?

I figured this would be a good time to ask this question. What brand/style hatchling rack do most people out there have?? I know most of all the larger breeders use deli cups. Right now I'm personally looking at the Reptile Basics hatching rack to use next year. Just wanted some opinions from people who have been there done that. Thanks!

I tried deli cups myself and were a pain in the butt in my opinion! :) I tried some other options, but for the number of hatchlings I've been getting the past few seasons, I moved to glad-type sandwich boxes. They're not quite the pain the butt that deli cups were, but they're also not that efficient either. :shrugs: Oh well. As for a rack, I just screwed a bunch o' shelves together and tacked two strips of flexwatt to the back. Each shelf will hold 12 boxes and there's 11 shelves . . . just shy of a gross.

Whats with the coffee filters? Liners?
I have a hodgepodge, mostly shoebox sterilites, but I have a few of those sandwich things too.

welll...I don't plan on having THAT many babies when I do start breeding. I'll have 7 females breeding in 2 years, and only 2-3 next year. If anyone has a personally experience with the Reptile Basic Rack, let me know good or bad. Or if not any personal experience, do you think it would be a good one to get? Thanks for the replies!!

7 females at an average of 15 eggs per . . . that's 105 eggs. If they go crazy, you could have as many as 140+. Be prepared! Besides, somewhere along the line you'll end up with more than 2-3 ready to breed next year!! :)

I'm going to TRY to have 2-3 next year and then 2-3 the year after that. I don't want to jump in the first year and have 140 babies. Trying to start off slow, learn what I can and go from there. Thanks DrizzT80 for the pic, I'm just not sure about having ALL those lids...I have NO doubt what you made is cheaper than buying a rack, but the rack is lidless. Right now I have 2 racks..one has the 15 qt tubs w/lids and my adults have the 32 qt without lids..the lidless is just easier IMO.:shrugs: ok thanks again for your input and I like the "rack" you made!!!!

Here's a few of our racks.
First is the Zip Lock containers. We use these for hatchlings as well as hatching eggs. They are slightly smaller than the old rubbermaid shoe boxes but hold hatchlings up to a year old with no problem.

These are the same Zip Lock containers full of eggs.We use the same boxes and incubate on a rack system high on the shelf where it is the warmest.
BTW that is Hatch Rite we are using in the egg boxes.
Thanks Rob

Last but not least. These are the smallest of the containers that we use. These are the Rubbermaid Keepers.Perfect for hatchlings. These are the same size containers that Jeff Mohr builds racks to fit.
We have about 1200 of these Lol.
Sure beats using deli cups IMHO.
Thanks Rob

Rob..you just had to post that!!!! I REALLY like it. Why don't you just come to my house and build me one!!!!! Actaully that doesn't look to hard to make, and I can have my lidless rack. On the hatchling rack, what are you using as heat, and same question for the eggs. Some use an incubator, and your just using the top of you rack ( heat rises..) hmmmm
Now Im jealous...always nice snake pics, and now this!!! **my "hide" (tiolet role) will fit in this...it wouldn't if I purchased the hatchling rack.
Thanks Rob!!!

I bought a Reptile Basics hatchling rack and was a little disappointed in the size of the trays, babies will not be able to stay in there very much beyond a couple of months (long enough to sell them).
Don't get me wrong all of my racks are from Reptile Basics and I love them, wouldn't have anything else.

Thanks Zorro.. I'm sure everyone wants to sell as soon as possible...but I know that's not going to happen all the time, so something that'll hold a 6 month old as well as a hatchling as what I need. I figured someone out there had a reptile basic hatchling rack!!!

The 16 tub rack from Reptile Basics is great for my 07's and the tubs are shoe box size. I've got my adults spoiled in the 32 quart tubs.
