More attached to them than I thought I was

Since I'm leaving, I made some pretty straightforward decisions about what I'm keeping and what I'm trying to sell. And I decided to sell my little normal that I hatched out last year. After all, I'll hatch a lot of normals along the way, and I'm sure I'll eventually produce another that's as pretty as he is. So this morning I take him around the corner to meet the guy from Winslow, Arizona who's driven down to pick him up. I hand him over for $30, and felt not a small twinge of regret to see him go! And I'm still feeling it! This surprises me. I've never wanted a normal. But my normal was a beautiful little guy, and I produced him, and apparently, I was a little bit attached to him! Oh well. I'm sure I'll produce another like him someday. I'm keeping his mother, which is where I think he got his good looks. :)

Aw, Stephanie. That's a sad story (sort of). I had a couple of straggler '07s that I finally sold to the pet store a while back, and it wasn't easy. I really never had intentions of keeping them, but when you hatch something and feed it 40 or 50 times (or more), you can't help but form some sort of attachment. And I've never sold an adult without some sort of regret. :(

Yeah, it's weird. I never had intentions of keeping him, either. I knew when I hatched him that I was just going to keep him until I left, just out of curiosity, to see how his colors developed. But you're exactly right--hatching something out and feeding it for almost a year does something to you.

And you're right too, Nanci. I know I'm more attached to my snakes that are low-key and easy to hold, and less to the ones that are more squirrely.

It's so easy to become attached to snakes for their personalities, not their genes.

ABSOLUTLY! I am far more attached to my lazy ole 5 year old snow boy Panther than my morph corns such as Greit and Dior. Sure they are special, but only because of their colour. Apart from that they have dull personalities LOL.

No wonder you grew attached to him, for a start you 'made' him, you raised him, and he's lovely! I had a real twinge when I sold my hatchling male last year.

I know how that is, Stephanie. I still see some of my babies for sale at the pet stores I sold them to and I feel like I should take them all back, they're so nice looking. Oh, well, we have to draw the line and make sacrifices somewhere. Sniff, sniff.

Heh heh. It would be difficult to see them repeatedly once they're gone! I'm feeling no more twinges today. I'm happy that he's out of the rack and off to a good new home. :) Hopefully I'll soon be able to say the same about the two lavenders I'm working on selling!
