Oy! Last day of school -- finally! :dancer: Why on earth did it take so long??? I'll admit: I'm already planning & excited about the coming year...but this year itself was a real bummer. The kids in general were fine; it was the administration, the other teachers, the other students outside of mine, the nonsense extra programs & testing dumped on us at the last minute...blah blah blah. :argue:

In fact, I even charred a bit of a bridge today with a colleague (I won't know if I actually burned it until next school year...! :p), but I'm tired of this woman: one week it's "I'm your best friend" and the next it's "I'm not talking to you"...and every day I get at least 2-3 notes from her asking for something. She's now been a teacher for 3 years, and she talks non-stop about money (and why on earth did she go into teaching?!) & gossip. So...I ratted her out after she left a disastrous mess in her classroom (food everywhere, ice cream melting on the floor & left in a bag on a table...it was a pigsty!) & she got yelled at by the principal. Her fault, no question, but she was desperate to know who told on her (ummm...anyone walking past her classroom could've seen it!)...so, I gave her the low-down, and now I'm in her dog house, where I'm happy to be if it means she leaves me alone! :p

However, I'm looping with my students to 3rd grade next year, along with 2 wackos from the other 2nd grade teacher (and she's in cahoots with the aforementioned nutcase...so I think that she specifically wanted me to have her wack-jobs...), but I'm not worried. I think it will be fine. The other 23 who have known me now for a year will peer-pressure the heck out of the 2 wackos to behave, and all will be well. :)

As it is, I've already won $1,675 for my classroom next year. Oh, and I helped the other two witchies win $500 a piece for their classrooms...:p I'm such a nice person...! ;)

Have a great summer, y'all! :wavey:

The Educators Prayer. I taught for 10 years. I have spoken those words many times.

Amen.

Although I'm already well aware that the grass isn't greener on the other side, I do have plans to leave Chicago (I teach in an inner-city, public school that is broke, broke, broke...) after two more years of teaching here...and going south to Charlotte, NC. I know that they've got problems of their own, so we'll see how it goes...at least I've already cut my teeth in a super-tough situation & survived. I've got skillz...

(I had the craziest kid in school come to my room to ask for my autograph on the last full day, all because I occasionally tease him about my snakes...I've talked to the kid three times in my life, and he went out of his way to find me. Every time I did talk to him, I got him to smile, which he never does because his home life is a mess. This last time was no different...and I was really touched to see him visit me. :) )
