Thank you Federal Government. :p

Smith and Wesson .38 Special snubbie with shrowded hammer and Hogue grip.
I've had it for 5 days and I've put 350 rounds through it.

Ohhh, nice! S&W were my best friends when I was a single gal. My .38 has a 3" barrel which is a bit awkward, but I love it so. Nice piece!

Mine's going toward a Ruger Blackhawk convertible, .357 (.38 spl), and 9mm. I've been wanting that for a while.. Mine hasn't arrived yet though..

Have fun!

I simply don't understand the gun culture in America. I guess it's because I live in a city where gun crime causes so much devistation...

I'm more into rifles, but nice smith&wesson! I wouldn't want to break into your house.
I ALMOST bought a Ruger SP101. Now that I've got the carry weapon out of the way, I think I'll get a big Ruger like a GP100.

Don't worry about the gun if you broke in. I think I'd be too scared/furious to even bother unlocking it. You'd probably be met by floor lamps sailing down the stairs at you.

You're absolutely right! It's a bit crazy here. I keep mine on the uppermost shelf and the bullets are in the basement. At this point, I'd have to ask the criminal to "please wait until I retrieve my ammo so I can shoot you." I had someone break into my home when I was there and they had one intent in mind. I got the gun the next day. But now that I have children, it's a different ball game. Not to start a debate, but our "right to bear arms" seems to have taken on a completely different meaning. On the flip side, I guess if the gangs and criminals have guns...well....

I know what you mean Elle, I guess you'd have to go shooting and see yourself progress as a shooter to get it.. I live in a pretty rough neighborhood for my sleepy town, saw a guy just last night shout "What punk!" and heard the 'clack clack' of a round chamber. He was down the street talking to someone else.. (No shots followed.)

Given that it's a phenomenon all over the world, I'd just as soon have one. On the other hand if the world was totally safe, I'd like one too. It's fun to shoot!

If everyone acted upon the eye for an eye mentality then the world would be blind...

It's not so retaliatory as all that IMO. I'm not out for vigilantism.
If you have gun violence in your part of the world, what do you feel outlawing guns has accomplished? It's funny for me, by the way, arguing this point as an American 'liberal', lol.

Sorry for the OT posts..

I'll admit, I don't understand gun culture either. I mean, I don't think of it as "right or wrong", rather I just don't understand people who wants guns in their house....But I do kind of want to try a shooting range sometime. It does look fun, I always have a blast at the shooting games at fairs.

In any case, it looks pretty. And that's about the only opinion I'm qualified to give on what I think of a gun, lol.

If we didn't have a great big dog, we would have a gun. We live in a sketchy neighborhood, and everyone knows there are only two women living here. And if I had a gun, I would take gun classes to get a permit to conceal it, and I would carry it when we go camping. We like to camp where there's a lot of hunting, and during hunting season, there are lots of men traveling around in groups, all with guns. It is also quite obvious when we camp that there are only two of us, and both of us are women.

And if someone broke into my house when I was home and didn't leave right away when they discovered that I was, or if someone started to really mess with us while camping or hiking, I would shoot them so long as I had legal justification for doing so, and I wouldn't have any regrets about it.

I think gun control should be more stringent in this country so that kids can't get them, and so that parents who can't keep them away from their kids (and then their kids go do horrible things with them) get severely punished, and so on. But in a country where criminals and miscreants (and homophobes, actually) DO have guns, and, just as salient for me, in a world where men are bigger and stronger than women, I want the right to have one. It will be the only way I have to defend myself if a group of men decide to "teach me a lesson." The odds of that happening are slim, but they are not none--all kinds of atrocities are committed against gay people, and all kinds of atrocities are committed against women, and I don't want to fall victim to a single one of them.

I don't know the laws in every area, but in California, we are accountable for what's done with our guns. If they are stolen, you have to report them as stolen right away to protect yourself. I think that's all pretty fair.
You're lucky though if you can even get CCW in Arizona. Here in my county (Ventura) that's virtually impossible. Even some law enforcement aren't allowed to carry off duty. I think that's wrong though, if they can carry them at work, they should be able to cary off duty.
I probably wouldn't carry even if I could though..

It's been shown that armed law-abiding citizen deter violent crime. Criminals cause crime - not legal people - and they don't obey the gun laws because, well, they are criminals.

Nice gun. I'm not much of a S&W fan since I never forgave them for what they did under Clinton (even though it is new management now) and Taurus make the same things for $200 less. The triggers on S&W revolvers are a dream, though - but the Taurus is not really that much worse (just as good if you know how to adjust them...ad it is easy)! Still, having any gun is better than just saying "Please don't rape me!" to someone with a baseball bat who is twice your size!

Pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns - who cares? They all go BANG and are fun to bring out for games of challenge! I enjoy them all, and you can never have enough!

Obligatory posting of my custom Ruger 10/22:

The scope that's on it in that picture broke after only a couple hundred rounds through the rifle, but I'd lost the receipt and so couldn't get any warranty service. Ended up buying a new Weaver scope that's silver, so it fits the scheme of the gun very closely.

The gun shoots .5 MOA at 50 yards with inexpensive Winchester Super-X ammo, so I'm very happy with it.

The S&W is adorable. :p I've always liked the Colt 1911, but buying a pistol in Canada is such a hassle that I doubt I'll ever have one. I'm more about taking my Winchester Model 70 7mm Remington Magnum and hitting a man sized target at 1000 yards, anyway. :)

All gun speak aside (cause Im not really into them)....Look at all of that land!!! BEAUTIFUL! There are amazing mountains in the background!

Unless he's a major league pitcher, I don't think that's top on my list of worries. :nyah:

That's a heckuva rifle, Nova_C. I eventually want to get a scoped rifle to play around with. For now I'll get pistols while I still can.
