I awoke this morning to Kristi coming running and yelling from the front of the house to the bedroom, "Stephanie!!!!!! One of the snakes hatched!!!!!!" Apparently she'd had dreams about snakes last night and had a feeling that they had started, opened up the ziploc (which is serving as a hole-punched lid of a rubbermaid I have no lid for), moved the paper towel, and one tiny one is two thirds of the way out. It's just hanging out here so far, and no one else has even slit his or her egg, so hopefully it's hanging out absorbing the rest of its yolk. It wasn't slit yesterday early evening when I last checked on them. Man, they are TINY at first! I always forget! I think maybe this one is especially tiny, and I think this is going to be a clutch of relatively small snakes.
This is the first result of a hypo blood x bloodred cross. Can I call them proven now?
