I was just curious. How many people are still on dial up? I haven't used dial up for about 10 years but I still see people posting with "DUW" (Dial Up Warning) in the title. I know high speed internet access isn't available everywhere. Again... I'm just curious.

I was going to put * The one that plugs in the box option is missing*......
I'm 50 for Christs sake....
Then I realised I seen the answer when it was loading.... LOL
DSL... I think..

My mum still is....I hate going over there and she needs work done on her computer that requires me getting on the internet. She can't get DSL (they don't offer it in her development for some reason), and she has satellite tv (satellite internet is SALTY to set up) and doesn't want to pay $60/month for cable modem.

Fiber optics for almost a year now - I had to seeing as I do a lot of ''gaming'' on the side wether it be on PC or on my Xbox.

We currently have a contract with Videotron (Canadian company) for 5 years and it costs around 70 dollars for the internet alone with a 20 gig upload limit and a 50 gig download limit.

It's worth the price imo, but then again fiber optics or T3 isn't available everywhere in the country. It would have cost us more in terms of instalation set-up if we had gone for the dial-up service - and in this day and age, DU seems like a total waste of money anyways, just hijack a neighbourhood wifi signal (but don't really cause it's mean and I get billed extra when hooligans get into my system).

What the hell was all that about....
Say it all again in English.... This is a cornsnake site...

I have a fiber optics connection = faster than average. I only got it because I play a lot of video games online.

It's not available everywhere - but worth the money. XD

Sorry.

Sorry mate... I was playing....
Didn't understand a word you were saying... But I didn't care anyway..... (I'm 50 for Christ's sake....) ;)

"DUW" must be one of those old terms that is hard to get rid of. Like I tell patients I have to go run the "film," although I don't believe we've had actual film in many years- everything is computed radiography or digital.

I have DSL, thank God! When I first moved in here, it wasn't available. Still can't get cable.

VJ... I had been thinking about posting this poll but did not take the time to. I completely agree... DUW us so 90's!!! LoL

Yeah... I never really think about it till I end up moving and then you never know what you're going to end up with.

Currently using DSL. High speed of any kind wasn't available in my town until about a year ago. We're a bit behind the curb.

We have DSL at home but I'm still on dial up at work believe it or not. :puke01:

I suffered with dial up for years - I was one of those shaking a fist and cursing at those who forgot to put DUW on their thread titles. So I still try to put the DUW on my picture threads. I've only had cable for a year. There are a lot of reasons why I didn't switch earlier, cost was a big factor.

That makes sense... depending on what's available in your area it can be pretty expensive.

DSL has only been available up there for about a year and my boss has been hesitant to sign up. The only thing we use the internet for is ordering Costco and submitting background checks. He's afraid that if he gets us DSL, we will goof off and get virus'.
The one thing about an ancient computer and an ancient connection is that no one bothers making virus' that would affect it.
