Graybands Fresh out of Brumation (and bite club entry photo)

ArpeggioAngel

Around Here Somewhere....
I took my graybands out of brumation today. I missed them while they were down so took the opportunity to try to grab a few quick photos.

Dax wasn't really keen on participating so these are the only two decent shots I was able to get of her:

Ronon on the other hand was quite willing to be a beautiful posing model for me - I just love this boy:

And then there was Aereon who was just outright cranky! I have only ever been bit one other time by one of my graybands and that was also a feeding response. I guess this gal was so hungry that my arm looked appetizing. Unfortunately, I missed getting a shot of her chewing on me as I was trying to support her body with my free hand until she would let go.
Bad photo - but she was having nothing to do with my photo attempts today:

Bite immediately after she let go:

And about 30minutes later inside and outside shots:

Hope those qualify for admittance to the bite club finally!

You got a really bad bite!!!!!!!! Good thing Ronon wasn't out Saturday. I seriously want to steal him.

Beautiful snakes, Katie Scarlet. And nasty bite...in such a tender place. Ouch.
Thank you Eric. I do love my graybands...and they are usually such amazingly docile snakes. I have seen the females get a little cranky right before they drop eggs, but as I said this is only the 2nd time one has tagged me. It was a rather odd spot too - right there on the inside of the elbow joint. And she just kept chewing...I kept thinking "how am I going to get her under the faucet to let go??". Finally she did let go of her own accord.....and I was very happy to put her back in her tub for the night!

I've been waiting all day for those bite club pictures, and you post 'em while I'm snoozing.

I agree with Nanci. Ronon's a pretty boy! Those are gonna be some very happy ladies. :D

They look gorgeous Katie! Its nice to see them out and about again :)

I've noticed that the hungry snakes tend to get excited if they get anywhere near a vein when they are hungry. Looks like that is exactly what she was going for! :grin01:

Your gorgeous Graybands are looking wonderful!
The bite... ouch ... I'd say that it sure qualifies as an entry into the bite club.
