Roadcruising The Great Basin HWY :D

So the last two nights I went out on the Great Basin Hwy. The first night I just went to check it out and see if it would be a good road to cruise.. Although a bit busy, it has potential.. I didnt expect to see anything but I did see a couple things..
Was still daylight when I saw this poor guy DOR.. This was my first gopher snake find though.. Wish it wouldnt have been dead..

Then on the way back towards town. I ran into some artists that where painting at the end of a dead end street.. Sat there and talked with them and watched them paint for about a half an hour.. Then headed back out towards home.. When I saw this beautiful Crotalus.... Definitely the biggest one I have seen so far.. There where cars coming so I blocked him off with my truck till they passed..

Last night we went out again... We saw this beautiful longnose.. There was a car coming so I jumped out of the truck and ran and grabbed this guy before it got killed..

*lol* Your finding the stuff I wanna find.. Lyre Snakes, and that darn Ground Snake.. The ground snake indeed is an extremely rare find in my parts.. Shovel nose sure, but the Ground Snakes are so few and far inbetween around here..

I have only seen 2 ground snakes so far.. If you wanna come out here I will take you cruising. The ground snakes are really small so you have to keep a really good eye out for them. Your not that far away from me, really, and your desert isnt much different at all, there has to be some ground snakes out there somewhere ;) Are there any less traveled vacant roads between here and there, we could meet up..

Well, I don't know that much about them in captivity, yet.. But a friend of mine had a friend that had one for a very long time. Ate FT mice and was a good snake...

Steph, someone recently found a ground snake here, they figure it was one of the first in a very long time in my area ( a number of decades ).. They are not much different than my local shovel noses here.. I however cannot not collect and keep any that I found, I don't have the fishing license that is needed to collect.. Which is why I only have a pair of Cali Kings, with the receipts and breeders contact information very handy..

99.8% of the time, I have no reason to keep WC, because most of what I would want is accesable through captive propagation.. At this point I am very over whelmed at work and have little time for myself other than the odd couple of hours here and there to go an cruise..

Which reminds, I seen my self a good 4 and half foot redracer on the way home from work tonight.. I call today my extended Weds, until the next one, and will get some time off next weekend, of course the following week I am doing 4 days of OT again.. *LOL and slaps forehead* I might be lucky in some part of June I should be back to regular hours for about a month..
