I had a family come around about an hour ago to look into getting a pet snake, for their two girls.
After showing them corns (the best first snake, especially if kids are involved) they asked what the others were.
I told them we like Morelia, and proceeded to show them one of our Bredli's.
As I said, 'These are very gentle snakes and so docile.' It struck my thumb and coiled my hand... LOL

Needless to say, they don't want a Carpet .....:laugh:
Alcohol is now being liberally applied, internally, as we speak.... ;)

Even though the pain was unbearable I managed to drive to the store for the 'medicine'.... I'm applying it by the tumbler as we speak.....
I may start to slur my writing as the venom takes hold... ;)
 
What's really sad is the fact that that would probably make me WANT to get one! I need a snake with a little attitude!
 
So..... what did the prospective snake owners say to this? Did they hang around long enough to watch you free yourself? Did they ask to hold your snake?

Snap..... It's not that I want to be macho and prove something, it's about Snakie snakes....
I love snakes that act like snakes... (Imaginary ones... You know, how non snake people think of them)
I had someone say to me once, 'If that thing went mad now, we wouldn't stand a chance. Would we'?....
I just looked at them with raised eyebrows....
Then they said..... 'Mmmm, it's only 3ft long, isn't it?'
I just laughed..... Non snakie people;)
Just to show them that snakes are only snakes, not demons full of magic and hate, I showed them
Sid and his Party piece...
Only for real, about 4ft away, and no glass.....
They even touched Sid.... They worked out it was a snake doing what it's programmed to do.
We showed them a few more Bredlis and a couple of Jungles.....
I think the problem was......
ANTIBACTERIAL hand wash....;)
If I plan on handling a lot of snakes, and others may want to cop a feel... I have hand wash around... This is a new snake and may of never been around that strong alcohol smell... I only touched her side in the viv and she tried to kill my thumb
I've been bit by lots of snakes as a defensive thing.... That was a strong feeding response:cheers:
So I'll be adding alcohol wash as a condiment if she ever goes off her dinner...:D

Hey, great idea! It's nice to know that goop is good for yet another thing! I'm sure there's a nugget of wisdom in there somewhere about the cyclical nature of problems initiated and solved by alcohol in various forms....

It's cool that your newbs stayed interested.

It definetly looked like he wanted your thumb for dinner! But,I'm a snake person so,maybe that's why it wouldn't have freaked me out. I have yet to be bitten except for a tiny little strike from my ball and that didn't even break skin. I loved when we had the boa outside and the neighbors freaked out over him! He's a pretty big boy but as docile as can be. I mean you can pet his head like a dog if you want to. But the only questions we kept getting was "Can it kill you!?" Well, sure it could kill me if it really wanted to. "Why would you have an animal that can kill you?" Because I love these animals and we know how to handle them. With caution. "How horrible! What if eats one of your kids!?" Then I'm out a kid. Seriously,my kids aren't allowed near the snakes without an adult and the boa is locked up. My kids couldn't open his viv if they wanted to. All this while they were standing a good 10 feet away from us. LOL!
 
I can picture it now, the little girls staring in horror, while you go get a camera to show your friends online for something to laugh about. Lol.

Basically thats what happened.... LOL
I shouted to Joel, Joel ran and got the camera.
The visitors asked what he was doing (they thought the flash would make it release) Joel tells them it's for the forums to raise a laugh.....
They must think we are weird...LOL

And, hey, most people already think we're weird. Oddly enough, it seems to have little to do with having snakes....;)

HAHAHAHA..

You know what is great about this, I was talking to a friend last night. She claims she is deathly afraid of snakes. Was asking me questions like if any of them have bit me etc...

I said well not successfully. Lol, she was like your crazy.. If one bit you would you get rid of them.. I was like heck no.. I'll go run and get the camera.. Then I told her that I would get the camera for everyone on here.. Lol.
