Here are my new additions to my Kinky family of corns, one is a 09 Bloodred the other is an 08 Amber. The Blood has eating twice but I'm not sure about him right now his kink is pretty bad but we'll see how he does. I have a soft spot for kinked snakes and have 5 of them now, 1 normal, 1 Lavender, Bloodred, 1 Amber and 1 Prairie King. I do not breed them and will not I just like being able to give them a nice home and I use them when I do educational events, the kids really like them.

So here are my new additions.

Strange that where their kinks are, their scales are white. I volunteered in raptor rehab and you could tell where the educational birds had their injuries. Where they had their irrepairable break (mostly in the wing), there was a ton of white downy feathers exactly where the injury was.

Gorgeous little ones... I hope they thrive!
 
I've never seen that before, there must be a great deal of health risk involved for these guys? I donno im new and only have the one corn but I hope they do well. Good luck !
 
Wow they are both gorgeous corns, minus the kinks. The amber especially. 'd have both of them if I could!! inking is really an accidental thing isn't it? Rather than genetic? I hatched two clutches of eggs this year and had one really badly kinked baby, but all the rest were normal. It died, but your two don't look so bad that they can't move/eat so I hope they pull through.
 
Wow, they're both beautiful! When my first clutch hatched, a lot of them developed kinks that eventually went away as they got bigger, but they were minor compared to those! I'm glad that you're giving them a good home. They deserve it!
 
Thanks everyone for the nice comments. Here are some pictures of my other Kinky Kids.

This was my first kink. I saw him posted on reptilegeeks and he was so adorable, I fell in love with him and I had to get him. His kink has improved greatly in the past year and is almost not noticeable anymore.

This was my third kink, she was on kingsnake and again was to pretty. Her kinks were not noticeable in her add but when you handle her you can feel she has a lot of them. Her kinks have also improved a bit since I've had her.

Here was my second kink, he is an Albino Prairie King and has the king attitude and always tries to bite me but always misses. He has a pretty bad kink in his neck but the rest of his body is normal.

I find it so interesting that you have taken them in... and I commend you for it! I wonder how their kinks "get better"? Perhaps its just more flesh on them or somehow they straighten out as they grow? It would be interesting to see X-rays of them.

I have always been a sucker for injured or deformed animals because I think they deserve a chance at life as long as they are not suffering. All my kinked snakes act just like a normal snakes. The only one that concerns me is the Bloodred, he has a bit of stuck shed and a stuck eye cap so he may have trouble shedding on his own.

It's hard to explain, I guess as they grow their bones straighten out a bit because even with more weight on them you can tell they kink is not the same as it use to be, but they will never fully straighten out. I may actually take them to get an xray done when they are older that would be pretty interesting to see and I'm sure my vet would love to get a look at them.

Just a suggestion... You might want to have an X-ray done on a young one and then have an X-ray done when it is older (and "straighter"). That way you have a point of reference. "Squiggles" :D might be a good candidate for such an "experiment".
 
Wow, those babies have some interesting "kinks" - were the others like that? They look more like they had some kind of spinal-cord fusion issue than the usual bent spine...
But yeah someone posted a snake a while ago with that same odd pigmentation w/ spinal weirdness! I postulate it has something to do with the fact that pigment cells migrate out of the developing notocord (spine), but it's interesting that the amber does not have similar depigmentation!

I did not hatch them so I'm not sure if any other came out like them. I don't think their were any others.

The Amber does have a little white also but not to the degree of the Bloodred.
 
Go you! I'm glad these guys/gals have been given the chance to live and hopefully get better as they grow. Good luck with the new ones and with all of them. They are all very beautiful.

Sorry when I meant "the others" I meant your other kinky snakes - if they had similar odd-looking fusions along their spine and grown out of it.

It's very nice of you to give them a good home and chance at life :)

My others did not look like these guys at all and did not have a lack of pigment. The new ones have much worse kinks also. My older kinks look normal until you hold them then you can feel it.
 
Look at my little boy go! He shed and ate today. He needed help sheding but I think it was because he was to dry, I think he'll be able to shed on his own next time.

He also gained a name yesterday. His name is Kimimaro, Kimi for short.

You have an amazing collection, Katie! I think it is great that you take in and take great care of some snakes that otherwise might not have a chance. You are incredible!
