Probable HD (homo dominant aka Super)!!
I paired a Miami Tessera x Miami Tessera in 2015, and of my keepers, have been gradually pairing them to see if they're HD (homo dominant aka Super).
Hematite is the 3rd male I've test bred, and it looks like he is!! :) I paired him with my LBR Miami female this year, and out of 10 good eggs, 7 have pipped and are hanging out, all of those are Tessera's. There are still three that I'm waiting on. I say probable because I need to do another pairing to confirm him as HD. I will pair Hematite with a different female next year (likely an Amel, to see if he is het for Amel) and see if I get all Tessera's again. I am calling them HD (homo dominant) as opposed to "Super", since there's no known marker that differentiates het Tessera's vs homo Tessera's. Apparently some people take issue with calling them homo, so I settled on "HD". |
Update: All 10 babies in this clutch are Tessera's!!

Here are the babies that have emerged. One is still debating on exiting his/her egg. LOL

Those are some beauties. And I am likewise very impressed with how all of them have near perfect dorsal stripes.

These are gorgeous! I love the colors, perhaps some of my favorites I've seen so far.

Congrats! They're beautiful.

Will they keep their dark brown/maroon coloration or will that lighten up to be more orange as they get older?
