hello from Pennsylvania
I've always been interested in locality Elaphe/Pantherophis including CornSnakes.
I realize that much of the content of these forums is less relevant to Locality Corns than to the many morphs that have been produced relatively recently (i.e. during the last 50 years) via in-breeding, line-breeding, cross-breeding (e.g. Pantherophis emoryi x Pantherophis guttatus = ScaleLess), etc. But I hope to find some info relevant to Locality Corns in sub-forums such as Husbandry, DIY Projects, Health Issues, Feeders, Behavior, Breeding, and Natural History. Fingers crossed! |
Welcome to the forum! There are a couple of people on the forum who are working with locality corns. If you look in the photo gallery, there should be some recent posts.

Welcome! I see locality corns for sale on Fauna Classifieds fairly often. I'd suggest chatting-up those sellers and see what can be learned. Cheers!

Welcome fellow PA resident!
I have a pair of 2022 locality corns from a friend that are F1'S from wild caught parents. They are by far the most defensive ones in my collection. |
What's the locality are they from Max in Fogelsville?
I've been bitten by morphs but never by a Locality or even a WC. Lots of tail-rattling as neonates. I don't put them down when they do this, I believe that would just reinforce the aggression, reward the wrong behavior. I cradle them in both open palms and just let them rattle till they tire - usually <3 minutes, then put them back. How often do you handle them? Gettysburg huh... I'm jealous of your proximity to Hamburg; best expo east of Tinley IMO. |
Mine are Beaufort county, SC. Which isn't very far from Okeetee. They came from Justin Smith at palmetto coast exotics/THN.
Usually 2-3 times a week I'll give the pair a 5 min handling session. Within a 2hr drive we can hit a show almost every weekend. |
If they are from that far north then they should still be asleep right now, if not there's an increased likelihood for irritability. I know there are lots of breeders who say that there's no need to brumate neonates, but 65 million years of evolution says otherwise.
