feeding question?
 

i have been told a few different things about how long to keep my snake in the feeding container after he has taken the food. The shop told me that as soon as he had swallowed it all then it was ok to put him back in his viv and then leave him for 48 hrs to digest it. However now i have been told that i should be leaving him there for the full 48 hrs, this seems strange as the feeding container is very small and it seems quite cruel. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks.

If you just put the feeding tub in the viv, the snake should climb out to where it wants to go. I just gently pick mine up and put them back, they shouldn't regurge from the minimal handling at that stage.

I usually wait until they have swallowed their dinner and are looking around the container. This usually means they are thirsty and looking for the water to drink after swallowing. That's when I put the feeding container into their normal home near the water dish and allow them to climb out on their own and find the water.
Adults I just pick up gently and place them in their homes near the water dish.

My snake is quite shy so I always leave the room while he's eating. I leave him for an hour usually, and I put him back in his viv when I return. There is no need to leave your snake in the feeding container for the full 48 hours. I have never had a problem feeding my snake in this way.

I usually wait until the mouse is fully down and he begins to move around the feeding container. I lightly pick him up and place him back... The minimal handling will most likely not cause a regurge.

Yes, I agree with this method too. Leaving a non problem feeder in a feeding container for forty eight wrong.

ok thanks everyone, i will continue to carry on the way i have been then, which is putting him back when he has finished and is moving round the container.
