What kind of bedding does everyone use for their cornsnakes? I just got mine and im using aspen...might try something else sometime. what do you all use?
 
aspen is totally the way to go i use it and my corn luvs it. provides burrowing,smells good, easy spot cleaning, and pretty cheap
 
I use aspen or Forest Floor. Aspen is great for everyday use. They love to burrow in it, and it absorbs poop well. I use Forest Floor when they are in blue and getting ready to shed. It helps raise the humidity of the tank. Forest Floor is cypress mulch.
 
i used to use that stuff that came in a brick and expanded to 9 times its volume when water is added...i think thats bed a beast?

anyway now i use aspen and i dont think i will ever change from that...unless i can find that coconut stuff...that stuff sounds interesting.

and i agree aspen does smell nice!
 
I am using that coconut stuff some reptile moss and some sterilised peat and chemical free compost my little rainoo seems to love really being able to dig right down in it all.
 
I stumbled upon a brilliant and cheap product a fair while back which is marketed at kitty litter. It's old newspapers that have been shreded and soaked and then pressed into pellets the size of chicken or rabbit food. It's recycled (I like that environmental factor), unbleached, has no purfumes or additives and is cheap, cheap, cheap!!! The snakes do well on it and can burrow a bit through it although it doesn't tunnel up like aspen and it clumps and absorbs the moisture from the poops really well and makes them easy to scoop up.

For the Swedes here, it's called 'Katt toa-lätt' and I pay 150kr for a 55 litre sack.
 
Aspen here, too. I used to use Eco-Earth shredded coconut fiber in all my tanks. I really liked it because it looked more like real dirt. However, I recently switched to aspen, and my snakes seem to like it so much better.
 
Paper Towels!

I use paper towels. It is easy to clean when its cleaning time. Also you can spot mites right away since paper towels are white you can attack the mites before the get out of hand.
I love using paper towels.
 
Aspen for me too. I used to use Eco Earth but it was too hard to get completely dry after soaking it (comes in compressed brick so you have to soak in water first) I started using aspen and my snake seems happier because he can burrow alot easier.
 
I have tried just about everything, and I think that aspen is by far the best for corns. I've noticed the quality really depends on the brand. I don't like Kaytee; its strong smelling and not chipped well. I tried Carefresh and Reptibark, and they were both too dusty. Never use sand, it gets under their scales and in their lungs. The coconut bark stuff was too damp. Papertowels are a cheap alternative, but they really love to burrow in the aspen and make tunnels.

I found that Walmart carries a shredded aspen (as opposed to the chip kind.) That my snakes love. It is basically the 'snake aspen' that you buy at the petstore but way cheaper. It is made my Hartz.
I like it and my snakes do too.

Sani chips are my second choice. I often keep my hatchlings on that. It is easier to clean up and the little guys can burrow in it easier.
 
I use heat treated sni-chips, it allows them to borrow if they wanted. It doesn't smell and easy to spot clean before my weekly cleaning =)
