Screen Ventilation - Tape Over Them?

I have prepared a Repti Zoo 67 gallon terrarium with side mesh vents for the arrival of my corn snake. I heard from a few that I should be mindful of the “cheese grating” effects the mesh can have on snakes. Not too concerned about humidity issues as I'm in Houston - quite humid.

My question: is it recommended I tape over the inside mesh with aluminum foil tape to protect my snakes snout from getting chewed up? Or is this uncommon?

It is not recommended to use tape inside the enclosure anywhere as it can get stuck to your snake. I would search for actual vent covers for reptile cages as I'm sure you can find some that will fit.

Definitely no tape or anything sticky where the snake can access it. Mesh can cause nose rub, but I usually only see it occasionally on males during breeding season when they're desperate to get out and go find a female. And it will clear up on its own after a shed or two.
