"Break in" period

Hi.. first post and just bought our first corn snake. He/she is about 1.5-2 months old and a little over a foot long. Naturally, he's a bit nippy and currently likes to stare at us through the glass in a defensive "strike" posture, but that's to be expected at this point. How long should we wait before attempting to handle him/her? At that point, how often and how long at a time should we handle to ensure that the snake grows accustomed to it without overdoing it? Does that make sense?

He sounds really scared. I'd leave him alone for a week, then feed him, then let him digest for two or three days, then start handling him for five or ten minutes at a time. It wouldn't hurt to cover most of the sides of his viv, either, to reduce his stress right now. The most important thing is for him to settle in and have a successful first feeding in a week. It takes a long time to forget the stress of shipping/moving, and not associate that with feeding.

He's already doing better today. He was being lazy all sprawled out against the glass this morning. Instead of getting defensive though, he just kind of followed me with his eyes for a minute or so and then simply retired to his cave.
