What camera/lens do you use?

Hey everyone! I noticed that a lot of people take amazing pictures of their corn on here that come out pretty clear. I have a Nikon CoolPix P90 but I can't take a good inside picture to save my life. So I was wondering if there were any techniques y'all use or if certain cameras were better for inside photography on snakes? I seem to only be able to take a good corn snake picture outside. lol Thank!

While I haven't been in the snake hobby that long, I have been casually taking photo for a long time. I use a Pentax K100D. IMHO, photos always look better outside. I tend to take pictures around 3 pm. Flash is always mandatory. I use these settings.: Recorded pixels at 6m, quality level is all the way, saturation, sharpness and contrast, are all in the middle.

I also use auto pict and flash.

It cost me about 600$ down, but I'm sure its gone down.

On occasion, I fix up any flaws using paint.net, as with some downloaded extras, it can be just as good as Photoshop but it is free.

I'll show examples.

Heck, I just use a Canon Powershot SX40 HS. It's a bridge camera, so no need for additional lenses. The onboard flash works fantastically for taking pictures inside, even in macro (although with that, you have to get the angles just right).

I use auto settings outside and inside I use auto with a flash. Here's the difference and you can see how the quality is killed. Another thing with my dog pictures though is that I can get them to hold still. Snakes are always moving it seems. Any ideas for getting them to move less?

Inside with macro setting and a flash.

Outside with macro, no flash.

I have a nikon d3100 and I use the standard lens it came with for my snake pictures, because my 70-300 mm lens is way too big, the snakes would get away!
I learned with one of the coolpix cameras though- keep practicing with that and you'll get great shots.

This is from my OLD coolpix point and shoot

And this is from the D3100.. ignore the lack of contrast. It's really hard to take pics of bees with the 3100 But I am still learning how exactly it works! I've only had it a year.

So these aren't as awesome as y'alls pictures but certainly an improvement on mine. I had to figure out what my camera's marco setting was... Gonna try and get these snakes outside within the next few days and try marco with that. Hoping now I can convince myself I don't have to change cameras.
